ATTENTION
Do not rotate the crankshaft
during the installation of the
camshafts since this can cause
engine damage and/or a valve
timing error.
• Install the exhaust camshaft

• Install the intake camshaft
cover

N.B.: be careful to install the
covers in their original location,
refer to the following

• Tighten the camshaft covers.
d
ATTENTION
The camshaft cover bolts should
be tightened in a uniform manner
as not to damage the cylinder
head, camshaft covers, and/
or camshafts.
• Place the gasket on the timing
chain tensioner housing.
• Lightly press the tensioner's
shaft

into its housing
N.B.: press the tensioner's shaft a,
turn clockwise

until it stops.
• Lock the tensioner's shaft
by inserting the cir-clip
its groove

• Release the shaft by pressing
up on the chain guide
through the access hole 6.
• Using a socket wrench with
a T-shaped handle, turn the
nut that fastens the variator to
the crankshaft and make the
engine rotate 4-5 complete
revolutions and bring it back to
the top dead centre, aligning
the references shown in
and check to ensure that the
timing chain gear has remained
aligned with the reference
mark on the head
(Fig.
• If the crankshaft is blocked
during the rotation, absolutely
do not attempt to force it
under any circumstance.
Check the timing, which
evidently was not performed
properly. Then repeat the
timing process and follow
