Warnings
• Use only monitor hoses identified for use with neonatal cuffs.Use of
other hoses can prevent monitor from obtaining readings.
• Be sure to select the correct patient type setting on the monitor. Do
not apply the higher adult inflation, overpressure limits, and
measurement duration to neonatal patients.
• Be sure cuff is correctly matched to patient type and size (limb
circumference ranges are printed on each cuff). Cuffs that are too
small may produce false high blood pressure readings; cuffs that are
too large may produce false low pressure readings.
• Avoid placing cuff on patient in a manner that can lead to cuff
tubing becoming kinked (which may cause inaccurate readings).
• Prevent damage to cuff when used on monitors with auto-BP
functions by shutting off auto-function, or removing cuff from
monitor when it is not applied to patient.
• Use cuff only under direct supervision by a trained healthcare
professional when attached to automated monitors without fail-to-
read alarms.
• Periodically inspect cuff, connectors, and hose for signs of wear or
deterioration. Replace damaged or deteriorated components, as
required.
• Replace cuff if hook and loop fastener fails to hold during inflation.
• Follow your institution's guidelines for long-term patient care.
