Safety instructions for battery charging
Note! Before the battery is charged, make sure the body, the cable and the plug of the power pack are not damaged.
It is prohibited to use a faulty or damaged charging station and power pack! To charge batteries use solely the charging station and
the power pack supplied with the tool. Using another power pack may cause fi re or damage the tool. Batteries must be charged in
closed and dry rooms, which are protected from unauthorised persons, and particularly children. It is prohibited to use the charging
station and the power pack without a constant supervision of an adult! If it is necessary to leave the room where the battery is
being charged, disconnect the charger from the mains, removing the power pack from the socket. If smoke comes out from the
charger, or a strange smell is released, it is necessary to remove the plug of the charger from the mains socket immediately!
The tool is supplied with an empty battery, so before any work may commence, it must be charged for the time indicated in the
technical data table, using the supplied power pack and charging station. Ni – MH batteries have a minimised memory effect,
which does not mean however it is inexistent. Therefore it is recommended to run the battery down from time to time during
normal work. Under no circumstances is it permitted to discharge the batteries short-circuiting the electrodes, since this will cause
irreversible damage! Do not check the charge of the battery short-circuiting the electrodes to check the sparking.
Storage of the battery
In order to prolong the battery life, it is necessary to provide proper storage conditions. The battery resists approximately 500
„charge – run-down" cycles. The battery should be stored at a temperature between 0 and 30°C, at a relative humidity below 50%.
In case of a prolonged storage of the battery, it must be fully charged, and then equalizing charge is required every three months.
During storage, batteries loose approximately 30% of their capacity per month. The process of spontaneous run down depends
upon the temperature; the higher the temperature, the faster the run down process. Do not permit a full run-down of the battery
during a prolonged storage with no equalizing charge. A full run-down of the battery may cause irreversible damage of the battery.
In case of inadequate storage of the battery, the electrolyte may leak. In case of leakage, it must be removed with a neutralizer. In
case of contact of the electrolyte with the eyes, rinse them abundantly with water and seek medical assistance immediately.
Once the battery has been completely charged, and it is not going to be used for a long time, it is recommended to use the
provided protective caps on the electrodes.
It is prohibited to operate the tool with a damaged battery.
In case the battery is completely worn out, it should be sent to a specialised point of utilization of this kind of waste.
Charging of the battery
Note! Before the battery is charged, disconnect the power pack of the charging station from the mains, removing the plug of the
pack from the mains socket. Furthermore, it is necessary to clean the battery and its terminals, using a soft and dry cloth.
Disconnect the battery from the tool.
Slide the battery into the track of the charging station, observing the correct polarity. (III)
Insert the plug of the power pack cord to the socket of the charging station. (IV)
Insert the plug of the power pack to the mains socket.
A blinking red diode indicates the charging process, while a continuously lit green diode indicates the end of charging.
If the battery is fully run down, then the diode of the charging station may shine red and green intermittently for up to 20 minutes.
This indicates a slow charging of the battery until the charging station may apply the full charging current. If the intermittent shining
exceeds 20 minutes, this means the battery has been damaged due to excessive run-down and it must be replaced with a new
one.
Once the battery has been charged, remove the plug of the power pack from the mains socket. Disconnect the power pack from
the charging station, removing the power pack cord from the socket. Pull out the battery from the track of the charging station.
Using of battery in the tool
Remove the protection from the charged battery, move away the hanger and place the battery, starting at the terminal side, in the
socket located at the side of the handle of the tool. Make sure the safety device keeps the battery in the socket. (V)
The tool is equipped with a battery charge indicator, which is located at the opposite side of the handle near the switch. If the
diode blinks green, it means the battery is charged to a degree that permits work. If the diode changes colour to red, the battery
must be charged.
In order to remove the battery from the tool, press the safety device button and remove the battery from the socket.
If the battery is stored in the tool, it will run down. Before work may commence, the battery must be charged.
Preparation to work with the gas cartridge (VI)
If the gas cartridge requires installation of a dosage valve, follow this procedure. Place the front grip of the dosage valve in the
fl ange of the cartridge, and then press the back section of the valve so that it clicks into place in the cartridge fl ange. The cartridge
is ready to be placed in the tool socket.
Installation of the gas cartridge in the tool
Press the safety device of the socket cartridge lid and open the lid. (VII)
