Unloader
One Indication for Use:
®
• Mild to Severe Unicompartmental
Osteoarthritis
• Unicompartmental knee conditions that require
load reduction to affected compartment such as:
• Articular cartilage defect repair
• Meniscal cartilage repair
• Avascular necrosis
• Tibia plateau fracture
• Normal activities of Daily living
• Circumference limitation
• Thigh circumferences smaller than 13.5"
(34.3 cm) or bigger than 29" (73.5cm).
• Calf circumferences smaller than 10" (25cm)
or larger than 24" (61.5cm).
Caution: For patients with peripheral vascular
disease, neuropathy, and sensitive skin, close
physician supervision is recommended.
The Unloader
One pain relief device is field
®
adaptable to accommodate patient comfort issues.
Modifications to flexion or extension stops and
shell contour should only be made by the health
care professional. The healthcare professional
is responsible for advising patient on use of the
Dynamic Force Control System system.

One-time Strap length adjustment:
Thigh and Calf straps
1. Place brace on leg in full extension with center
of hinge at center of patella and mid line of
anterior / posterior plane.
2. Starting at calf (with Quick Fit Buckle in closed
position) bring strap firmly across back of leg.
a. Note distance knob on bottom of Quick Fit
Buckle extends past keyhole in shell (Picture 1).
b. Loosen end of calf strap from Quick Fit
Buckle and shorten strap this distance
(Picture 2).
c. Open Quick Fit Buckle and insert knob into
keyhole above buckle-stability pin (click into
narrow end) (Picture 3).
d. Close Quick Fit Buckle carefully (Picture 4).
e. Check tightness - if additional adjustment is
needed - continue steps 2a to 2d, until
optimum tightness is achieved.
3. Repeat step 2 with same procedure for thigh
strap.
Dynamic Force Straps (DFS)
a. Make sure both thigh and calf straps are
adjusted in their locked positions and device
correctly positioned on leg in full extension.
b. With Dynamic Force Control System set at 0
open both Quick Fit Buckles and remove from
their keyholes.
c. Starting with upper DFS adjustment, remove
DFS strap from lower Quick Fit Buckle and
reinsert the opposite way into D ring of Quick
Fit Buckle (Picture 5).
d. Insert knob of lower Quick Fit Buckle into
keyhole and close carefully
e. With leg in full extension pull on end of DFS
strap until snug on leg - hold in this position.
f. Move Velcro piece and place on strap at D ring
feature of Quick Fit Buckle, still holding strap
snug on patient´s leg (Picture 6).
