INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR CEBORA CP90 PLASMA TORCHES (IT-DE pat.pend)
Please read this manual carefully before using this
torch.This torch has been manufactured in full observan-
ce of the safety precautions contained in the standard
EN50192. In observance of the provisions of said stan-
dards, CEBORA S.p.A. hereby declares that this torch
must be used only with CEBORA generators. Spare parts
and consumer parts are considered to be an integral part
of the torch; CEBORA shall therefore consider the use of
NON-ORIGINAL parts as tampering and thus decline all
responsibility, including the liabilities set forth in the war-
ranty contract, in compliance with the spirit of said stan-
dard.Any other use not indicated below is to be conside-
red PROHIBITED.
Only qualified personnel may start, use and service the
machine. Always follow current safety regulations.
1 - PRELIMINARY STATEMENT
This torch, designed to cut electrically conductive mate-
rials (metals and alloys) by means of the plasma arc
method, uses air as the plasma and cooling gas.
PLASMA cutting takes place due to the high temperatu-
re generated by a concentrated electric arc, which may
therefore lead to seriously dangerous situations. It is thus
essential to scrupulously observe the contents of the
chapter on SAFETY PRECAUTIONS described in the
manual of the generator to which the torch is connected.
This manual must be stored carefully in a place familiar to
everyone involved. It should be consulted whenever
doubts arise, and must follow the machine throughout its
operational life. It will also be used for ordering spare
parts.
2 SAFETY DEVICES
Maximum cutting current I2 = 90A D.C.
Duty cycle X = 60% with I2 = 90A
Duty cycle X = 100% with I2 = 50A
Working voltage U2 = 120V (nozzle-workpiece distance 3
mm)
Working voltage U2 = 100V (nozzle in contact with the
workpiece)
Running pressure with 6m cable = 4.7 bar (0.47 MPa)
Running pressure with 12m cable = 5,2 bar (0.52 MPa)
Total air flow rate = 150 liters/minute
3 ACCESSORIES AND CONSUMABLES
The diameter of the torch nozzle hole depends on the
cutting current.
Use the nozzle ø1 up to 50 A, the nozzle ø 1.2 from 45
to 70 A, and the nozzle ø1.3 from 70 to 90 A.
CAUTION!
• The nozzle must never touch the workpiece with
currents greater than 45/50 A; you must therefore use
the two-pronged spacer Art. 1404.
• The nozzle ø 1.3 mm may be used in place of the ø 1.2
mm even for currents below 70 A, if a slightly lower cut-
ting quality is acceptable.

4 SAFETY
This torch is equipped with an electrical safety device on
the torch body to prevent hazardous voltages from being
present while changing the nozzle, electrode, diffuser or
nozzle holder. The standard EN 50192 requires that the
live nozzle placed vertically on a horizontal surface may
not be touched by the conventional test probe, the spe-
cifications for which are set forth by the standard itself. In
observance of this requirement, it is now impossible to
use the parts previously manufactured, since it would not
have been possible to avoid contact with the test probe
when using long electrodes and gas nozzles. A gas nozz-
le holder has therefore been designed with a protective
tube that prevents any accidental contact with live parts,
and allows the use of a new long gas nozzle that can cut
angles or notches. To avoid the hazards created by using
the previous parts, this nozzle has been designed with a
left-hand thread, and must therefore be screwed on
counter-clockwise.
5 TORCH MAINTENANCE
Always cut off the power supply to the machine before
any operation, which must always be carried out by qua-
lified personnel.
5.1 REPLACING CONSUMER PARTS
The parts subject to wear include the electrode A, the dif-
fuser B and the nozzle C and must be replaced after
unscrewing the nozzle holder D.
The electrode A must be replaced when a 1.5-mm-deep
crater appears in the center.
CAUTION! Do not use any sudden force in unscrewing
the electrode: apply a progressive force until the thread
is released.
The new electrode must be screwed into the slot and
fastened in place without tightening it all the way.
The nozzle C should be replaced when the center hole is
damaged or enlarged compared to a new part.
Delaying replacement of the electrode or nozzle will
cause the parts to overheat and shorten the life-span of
the diffuser B.
Make sure that the nozzle holder D is sufficiently tighte-
ned after replacement.
CAUTION! Screw the nozzle holder D onto the torch
body with only the electrode A, the diffuser B and the
nozzle C mounted. If these parts are not present, the
machine will not function properly and operator safety
will be endangered.
5.2 REPLACING THE TORCH
Machines in the S line, designed to operate in high-risk
environments, are equipped with a protective device that
requires a tool to be used to assemble and disassemble
the torch.
Unscrew the screws holding the protection on the machi-
ne, unscrew the ring-nut of the center fitting, and remo-
ve the protective guard.
