Field of application / operating principle
The pressure build-up regulators can be used for cryogenic gases and liquids,
liquid, gaseous and vaporous media with operating pressures up to a maximum of
40 bar and within a temperature range of -196° to 200°C. The pressure build-up
regulators can be set in a working pressure range (depending on the version) of 2
to 38 bar. The pressure build-up regulators are primarily used on stationary tanks
and are designed to build up pressure or maintain a predefined working pressure
during tank operation. The pressure build-up regulators have 3 connections: A, B,
C; see Figure a).
Pressure build-up function with integrated safety function:
The pressure build-up function operates in the flow direction from A to B. If the
working pressure in the tank drops due to tapping, the valve plug of the pressure
build-up regulator opens, which causes the set working pressure to be built up
again. When the set working pressure is reached, the pressure build-up regulator
closes. The pipes upstream of the pressure build-up regulator are protected by
an integrated safety function. If the pressure upstream of the pressure build-up
regulator (connection A) exceeds the set working pressure by >5 bar, the pressure
chamber upstream of connection A is relieved in directions B and C.
Overflow function:
If the set working pressure is exceeded by approx. 0.5 bar, the overflow valve
opens to equalise pressure in the flow direction from B to C.
Refer to the manufacturer's data sheets for details on the scope of application of
the individual versions. When used for oxygen as a medium, the operating tempera-
ture of 60°C and the operating pressure of 30 bar must not be exceeded.
