2.3.2 Safety precautions to avoid kickbacks

A kickback is a sudden and quick upward and/or backwards movement of the pruner towards the operator, which may
take place:
-
when the chain (2) touches a hard object on the upper part of the tip of the bar (see Fig. A).
-
when wood clamps and presses the chain during cutting, along the upper part of the bar (see Fig. B).
When working with the lower part of the bar, the pruner is moved away from the operator. If the chain meets a hard
object and is stopped quickly, the pruner may be violently pushed away from the operator, potentially causing serious
injury (see Fig. C).
CAUTION!
Each of these reactions may cause loss of control on the pruner and the danger of serious injuries.
The knowledge and prevention of any kickback eliminates the "surprise factor", therefore reducing potential accidents.
For an adequate control of the tool:
-
always be on your guard and never get distracted while cutting,
-
grip the tool firmly with both hands,
-
stand with your feet firmly on the ground and keep your body properly balanced,
-
check that the cutting area is clear of obstacles,
Always check that the safety and protection devices are working properly.
Keep all the stickers with the safety indications in perfect conditions.
Carry the tool with the bar (1) facing backwards and with the bar cover (20) engaged.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for chain (2) sharpening and maintenance.
Use the tool only with the accessories indicated by the Manufacturer.
Store this manual carefully and always read it before using the tool.
Do not use petrol, thinners or any aggressive products to clean the tool.
