Assembly Instructions (Continued)
Place one ¾ inch plastic bushing and then one ¾ inch
washer over the bottom of the pivot bolt and, holding
the bushing and washer in place, thread the ¾ inch nut
onto the bottom of the pivot bolt.

Hold the bolt head with a 1-1/8 inch wrench and hand
tighten the nut with another 1-1/8 inch wrench until the
nut is snug against the underside of the main arm brace.
Tighten to 65 ft. lbs. Do NOT overtighten the bolt or the
arm will not swing properly.
If the bushings and washers are not
installed correctly, the swing arm will
be difficult to extend. Also, metal-on-metal contact will
cause rust on the main arm brace and the swing arm
near the pivot bolt.
7. Position the tray so that the four bolts at each side fit
through the four pre-drilled holes at the top of the inner
and outer support stands, with the tray handle on the
driver's side.

8. From the underside, thread the eight 7/16 inch lock nuts
onto the bolts and attach them with a 9/16 inch socket
wrench (40 ft. lbs. - 50 ft. lbs. torque).
9. If using the Hitch Caddy to transport equipment other
than a RIDGID
air compressor or generator — the
®
assembly is complete. Anything other than a RIDGID
compressor or generator will be secured to the
attachment rails running along both sides of the tray (see
Figure 10).
10. If using the Hitch Caddy for a RIDGID
or generator — lift the compressor or generator onto the
tray, and center it side-to-side. Align the U tube supports
at the bottom to the pre-drilled holes along one side of
the tray.
: Load RIDGID

on the passenger side. This will position more weight to
the inside, making it easier to lift and maneuver the Hitch
Caddy.
: The two additional holes on the tray are for the air

compressor drains.
A. There are two sets of security bars. One is for air
compressors; the other is for generators.
One end of the bars has a pre-drilled hole; the other
is curved. Slide the curved ends of the security bars
through the U tube supports, so that the curved ends
fit over the lip of the tray, and the other ends align
to the pre-drilled holes in the tray.
B. You can bolt the bars in place with the provided 3/8
inch bolts, nuts and washers (one washer on each
side), or use a padlock (not provided) for additional
security (see Figure 11).
The assembly is complete.
