Operation —
The Hitch Caddy will support a
maximum weight of 300 pounds.
Structural failure will occur if the maximum weight
capacity is exceeded, which COULD cause personal
injury or even death.
To determine the available load weight in accordance with
your vehicle and hitch receiver's tongue weight rating:

When transporting cargo, place heavy loads in the center of
the Hitch Caddy and lighter cargo to the outside.
DO NOT use any part of the Hitch
Caddy as a step to get in and out
of the vehicle, which COULD result in death or serious
injury.
1. To attach RIDGID
air compressors or generators
®
to the Hitch Caddy, follow Step 10 in the Assembly
Instructions.
To attach other equipment, use tie-down straps (not
provided) rated in excess of the weight of the cargo
you will be carrying. Secure the tie-down straps to the
attachment rails (Figure 10).
It is the owner's responsibility to
secure the cargo safely to the
Hitch Caddy. Failure to do so may cause the cargo
to separate from the Caddy during transport, which
COULD result in personal injury or even death.
If operating gas-powered equipment
on the Hitch Caddy, make certain
that the exhaust is pointed away from the vehicle.
Heat from the exhaust may damage the vehicle's finish
or other components. Damage caused by operating
equipment in close proximity to the vehicle is not
covered under warranty.
2. The Caddy can be swung away from the vehicle, at any
angle up to 180°, so that equipment can be operated
with full access to the rear of the vehicle.
Check clearances on the initial use
— carefully open the Hitch Caddy to
its full extension, to verify that the vehicle's taillights,
quarter panel or other components will not be
damaged.
Similarly, verify adequate clearance
before dropping the tailgate; also
verify that swing doors or hatches on vans or SUvs can
be opened without damage.
