10. PROBLEM SOLVING
Caution. Disconnect the pump from the power source BEFORE performing any work, repair
or maintenance on the equipment.
Pump fails to start
Pump starts but immedia-
tely, the motor protection
trips
Pumped head or flow rate
is lower than expected
Pump produces noise or
vibration
1. No power supply
2. Open circuit or poor connections
3. Clogged impeller
1. Impeller is clogged
2. Voltage drop
3. A 50 Hz model is being used at 60 Hz.
4. The louvre has become clogged and
has been running dry.
5. Motor malfunction
6. Pump is sucking in too much sedi-
ment.

4. Motor rotates in reverse direction.
Motor bearings may be damaged.

1. Contact the power company or an
electrician.
2. Check if there are any open connec-
tions
3. Inspect the pump and remove the
instruction
1. Inspect the pump and remove the
obstruction.
2. Adapt the voltage to the nominal
voltage of the pump or use a cable that
meets the requirements.
3. Check the nameplate and replace the
pump or impeller.
4. Remove the obstruction.
5. Repair motor or replace with a new
one.
6. Place a cement block under the pump
to prevent it from absorbing sediment.
1. Replace them.
2. Minimise the number of bends in the
hose.
3. Remove obstruction. Place a cement
block under the pump to prevent it from
sucking up sediment.
4. Swap power supply connection
terminals.
To replace the bearings, contact the
supplier who supplied the equipment.
