either with the L-shaped fitting or with the spray-bar. The spray-bar can either be installed below
water level or just above the surface, depending upon the amount of oxygen-rich surface
movement required. Connect the flexible tube to the intake unit (IN) and outlet (OUT) unit on the
pump head and fix them with the locking nuts (Fig. C). Insert the pump head onto the filter body
(pay attention that the wings of the locking clips are well open) and lock it with the clips.
Check to ensure that the pump head fits properly and is clean. Remove the cap of the filter, fulfil it
with water, screw the cap tightly. Check all the connections for watertightness, then connect
DF400
to the mains. The filter must be installed on a flat surface, at the side of the tank and must
be operated in an upright position only.
Maintenance
Caution:
before performing any type of aquarium maintenance always disconnect all electrical
equipment from the mains, installed both inside or outside your aquarium.
Unlock the pump head by opening the locking clips and lift it off the filter body without
disconnecting the flexible hoses. Remove each filter media, to avoid destroying the colonies of
bacteria in the filter media, it is recommended to wash or to replace only one part of the filter
media at one time. Unscrew the two screws using a phillips screwdriver to remove the impeller
cover. Remove the impeller and rinse it under warm running water. It is suggested to clean the
impeller once every three months and to replace it once a year. If necessary, clear all the deposits
from the intake and outlet unit and flexible hoses. For this operation it is suggested you use a
small brush. Reassemble the whole unit in reverse order and connect the filter to the mains as
described under "Installation". Caution: do not use soap or cleaning detergents.
Guarantee:
This guarantee covers defects in workmanship and materials for a period of twenty-
four months from the date of purchase. This guarantee does not cover defects caused by
tampering, negligence or incorrect use of the appliance. All consumable parts which are replaced
regularly for normal maintenance purposes or subject to normal wear are not covered by this
guarantee. The guarantee certificate has to be completed by the retailer/dealer and must always
accompany the appliance. The completed guarantee certificate and sales receipt or receipt note
for fiscal purposes, as proof of date of purchase, must be sent together with the appliance in the
event it is returned.
