Indicating the remaining battery
capacity
Press the check b utton on the b atter y cartridge to indi-
cate the remaining b atter y capacit y . T he indicator lamps
light up for a fe w seconds.

NOTE: The first (far left) indicator lamp will blink when

Tool / battery protection system
T he tool is equipped w ith a tool / b atter y protection s y s-
tem. This system automatically cuts o power to the
motor to e x tend tool and b atter y life. T he tool w ill auto-
maticall y stop during operation if the tool or b atter y is
placed under one of the follo w ing conditions:
Overload protection
When the tool or b atter y is operated in a manner that
causes it to dra w an a b normall y high current, the tool
stops automatically. In this situation, turn the tool o
and stop the application that caused the tool to b ecome
o v erloaded. T hen turn the tool on to restart.
NOTE: If the tool does not restart smoothl y , cease
operation for a period longer than one minute, or
remo v e the b atter y cartridge from the tool and place it
b ack in the tool b efore a restart.
Overheat protection
When the tool or b atter y is o v erheated, the tool stops
automaticall y . In this case, let the tool and b atter y cool
b efore turning the tool on again.

Overdischarge protection
When the b atter y capacit y is not enough, the tool stops
automaticall y . In this case, remo v e the b atter y from the
tool and charge the b atter y .
Protections against other causes
Protection s y stem is also designed for other causes
that could damage the tool and allo w s the tool to stop
automaticall y . T ake all the follo w ing steps to clear the
causes, w hen the tool has b een b rought to a temporar y
halt or stop in operation.

Turn the tool o , and then turn it on again to
restart.

Charge the battery(ies) or replace it/them with
recharged battery(ies).

Let the tool and battery(ies) cool down.
If no impro v ement can b e found b y restoring protection
s y stem, then contact y our local Makita S er v ice C enter.
Sw itch action
CAUTION:
Before installing the battery car-
tridge into the tool, al w ays make sure that the
s w itch trigger actuates properly and returns to
the " OFF " position by fully pulling and releasing
it.
CAUTION:
S w itch can be locked in " ON " posi-
tion for ease of operator comfort during extended
use. Apply caution w hen locking tool in " ON "
position and maintain firm grasp on tool.
CAUTION:
Do not install the battery cartridge
w ith the lock button engaged.
CAUTION:
W hen not operating the tool,
depress the trigger-lock button from
lock the s w itch trigger in the OFF position.
T o pre v ent the s w itch trigger from accidentall y pulled,
the trigger - lock b utton is pro v ided. T o start the tool,
depress the trigger - lock b utton from A (
the s w itch trigger. Release the s w itch trigger to stop.
After use, depress the trigger - lock b utton from B ( )
side.

For continuous operation, depress the lock b utton w hile
pulling the s w itch trigger, and then release the s w itch
trigger. T o stop the tool, pull the s w itch trigger full y , then
release it.
