2.3. Safety in vehicles
The BX 11 / BX 11 S is not suitable as a vehicle seat. It must not be
used as such under any circumstances. It does not meet the require-
ments of ISO 7176-19. Failure to do so may result in serious injury and
death in the event of an accident.
You can tell that your wheelchair is not approved as a seat in motor
vehicles for the transport of mobility-impaired persons by the symbol
on the type plate, (Fig. D).

2.4. Participation in road traffic
The wheelchair is designed for indoor and outdoor use. Please note
that you are participating in public road traffic and must comply with
the regulations of the Road Traffic Act. Do not endanger other partici-
pants by driving recklessly, this applies especially on pavements.
2.5. Brakes
Service brake:
When driving, brake the wheelchair using the handrims. Please note
that your hands may get hot.
Parking brake/parking:
As soon as the wheelchair is stationary, push both brake levers forward.
The wheelchair stands safely braked if it does not
can no longer be pushed away and both brake levers are pushed for-
ward as far as they will go. Pull the lever back towards you to release
the brake (see chapter 4.7.1).
Drum brake:
The wheelchair can optionally be equipped with a drum brake that
can only be operated by an attendant via the brake levers on the push
handles.

2.6. Purpose
The wheelchair is designed exclusively for increasing the mobility and
for transporting disabled adults with the indicated indications (see
chapter 2.6). The maximum user weight is 135 kg.
To be noted:
We can only provide a warranty if the product is used under the speci-
fied conditions and for the intended purposes.
2.7. Indications
The provision of a wheelchair is suitable for adults who are unable to
walk or have a severe walking disability,
e.g. through:
Paralysis
Limb loss
Limb defect/deformity
Joint contractures (not on both arms)
Joint damage (not to both arms)
Other illnesses
2.8. Contraindications
Wheelchair provision is unsuitable for people with:
Incapacity to sit
Joint damage / joint contractures in both arms
Perceptual disorders
Severe balance disorders
Reduced and insufficient vision
Severe limitations of cognitive abilities
