Please note:
1.1
Safety
All work should be undertaken in compliance with national accident prevention regulations. A second per-
son is required for safety reasons, particularly when inspecting tanks.
In addition, the applicable national regulations and standards must be respected during installation, as-
sembly, maintenance, repairs etc.
During all work on the system or system components, the entire system must always be switched off and
secured against unauthorised reactivation.
The tank cover must always be kept closed, except during work inside the tank, otherwise the risk of acci-
dents is high. Only original GRAF covers, or covers approved by GRAF in writing, are to be used.
GRAF provides an extensive range of accessories, which are all coordinated and can be combined to
form complete systems. The use of other accessories may result in the functionality of the system being
impaired and in liability being revoked for any damage incurred.
1.2
Assembly tool
The tools used to assemble the stainless steel bolts and hose clips must themselves be of stainless steel.
Otherwise, the stainless steel parts may corrode after contacting the non stainless steel tools.
1.3
Selecting the location
Operating wastewater treatment systems can produce odours. The wastewater treatment system should
therefore not be sited in the direct vicinity of frequented and leisure areas (terraces, windows, etc.).
1.4
Aeration and ventilation
The wastewater treatment system must be supplied from a fully functional ventilation unit (aeration and air
extraction). It is generally adequate when the wastewater lines are routed in compliance with the stand-
ards EN 752 and EN 12056. This includes laying the wastewater line to the building as an open channel.
A smoke cartridge may be used in the wastewater treatment system to verify the unobstructed flow of air
through the line.
There must be no secondary ventilation, e.g. from open conduits: the air diffusing through these may im-
pact the desired, natural chimney effect. Buildings without a separate vent line (compliant ventilation sys-
tem) must be fitted with one that routes gases in a controlled manner out of the wastewater treatment sys-
tem and into the environment. The vent line must be connected to the wastewater treatment system at
two sites separated by a height of at least 3.00 m.
Risers should be open sections fitted with a deaeration end. An adequate supply of air into the
wastewater treatment system is essential for its ventilation.
