The Little Giant Grinder Pump Capacitor Kit, Model GP-CK, Item
Number 520857, contains the start/run components required for
proper operation of the 2HP Grinder Pump Models GP-M201-15-
H130 and GP-M231-15-H130. The Little Giant Model MGP-IC18
and Model MGPD-IC18 control panels, which are designed to
operate both, 230 Volt and 200-208 Volt grinder pumps contain
the same start/run components as the capacitor kit.
The capacitor kit contains the following components (one of each
unless otherwise noted):
• Oil-filled run capacitor, 35MFD/440VAC, No. 950533
• Alum inum electrolytic start capacitor, 270-324MFD/250VAC,
with attached 15k-ohm bleed-off resistor, No. 950532
• Horizontal capacitor mounting bracket, No. 950511
• 2" Dia. Vertical capacitor mounting bracket, No. 950524
• 1.75" Dia. Vertical capacitor mounting bracket assembly, No.
950535
• Start capacitor end cap, No. 950523
• Control panel back plate screws, No. 901424, Quantity 7
• Vertical capacitor mounting bracket tightening screws, No.
901415, Quantity 2
• Vertical capacitor mounting bracket tightening screws, No.
920006, Quantity 2
• Start (potential) relay, No. 950534
Please inspect the capacitor kit and verify the components/parts
included are as listed. Figures of each item are shown on the
enclosed replacement parts list.
The Little Giant Grinder Pump Capacitor Kits, Model GP-CK has
been designed specifically for use with the Grinder Pump Models
GP-M201-15-H130 and GP-M231-15-H130. This specific set of
components has not been designed for operation with other pump
models and similarly, components designed for use with other
grinder pump manufacturers and models are not applicable for use
with the Little Giant grinder pumps.
INSTALLATION
WARNING! DISCONNECT ALL POWER BEFORE INSTALLING
THE CAPACITOR KIT OR SERVICING THE PUMP OR THE
CONTROL PANEL.
The included run capacitor, start capacitor and potential relay
must be installed as shown in the start/run circuitry diagram.
A suitable ground must exist for all pump an power connections.
Determine if the components are being installed in a panel
or enclosure that has been previously wired for a split-phase,
capacitor start/capacitor run motor using similar components.

If so, verify that the wiring is correct and that any other components,
e.g., circuit breakers, contactors, etc., are of the proper electrical
rating.
If not, the panel or enclosure may require rewiring by a qualified
electrician or technician. It is recommended that the components
be installed in a NEMA 4X rated enclosure.
Use the accompanying mounting hardware for mounting to
panels or enclosures, as necessar y.
• The 3/4-inch screw (P/N 901415) and hex nut (P/N 92006) are
provided to tighten the capacitor(s) in the vertical capacitor
bracket (P/N 950524 and 950535). The screw-nut assembly of
bracket (P/N 950535) can be used as it is or can be replaced by P/
N 901415 and 920006 for tightening the capacitor (P/N 950533).
• The seven ½-inch screws (P/N 901424) are provided to mount
the vertical capacitor brackets and the start relay (P/N 950534)
to the back plate of a control panel or other suitable surface.
• The capacitor end cap (P/N 950523) is for use on the
capacitor (P/N 950532) after the wires have been connected
to the terminals.
• The horizontal capacitor bracket (P/N 950511) is provided
to hold the start capacitor end cap in place. The horizontal
bracket may be used to horizontally mount (i.e., lengthwise
along the back plate or surface) the start capacitor on a
surface, such as a control panel back plate by using two
screws (P/N 901424) in line at any convenient position within
the center dimension. If the start capacitor is to be vertically
mounted (i.e. perpendicular to the back plate or surface) in the
control panel or enclosure, the start capacitor should be first
mounted to the surface with the vertical capacitor bracket and
then the horizontal bracket (P/N 950511) should be attached,
such that it is outside of the vertical bracket.
Prior to supplying power or operating pump, check the following:
• Inspect all wiring inside the control panel or enclosure for
correct connection.
• Inspect all wiring and components for damage and the
presence of contaminants.
• Make sure no wires will be pinched when the panel door or
enclosure is closed.
• Check that there is no moisture or debris in the control panel
or enclosure.
• Verify that the pump is correctly installed in the sump or
basin.
• Make sure no person is near the grinder cutters or touching
the pump.
For pump operation, refer to the Model GP-M201-15-H130 and
GP-M231-15-H130 Owners Manual. All electrical work should be
performed with strict adherence to the National Electrical Code
and all state or provincial and local codes.
