2. Installation
Notes
Refer to the safety instructions in section 1.
The installation work for the accessory is based on the workshop information. Refer also to repair instruction
51 71 447 "To remove, install and replace the trim for the side member cover on the left and right. "

Preparations
Place the above workshop documents to hand.
Place the grommets, clips and expanding rivets into water for a little time before the installation work.
A
Take the expanding rivets (1) on the side skirt (2) out of the side member from underneath in the direction
indicated by the arrow.

Unclip the side skirt (2) from the front to the rear in the direction indicated by the arrow along the side member.
Carefully raise the engagement pin (3) (see magnified view) out of the recess on the trim (4) on the side member
and take the side skirt (2) off the side member.

Lever the remaining retaining clips (6) and grommets (7) out of the side member (5).Then insert the grommets (d)
out of the parts kit into the holes used by the old grommets on the side member (5).

Fit the retaining clips (e) into the securing rail (8) on the accessory side skirt (a) at the markings (9) (see magnified
view).

Hold the accessory side skirt (a) against the side member, align it and clip it to the side member in the direction
indicated by the arrow.Then carefully press the engagement pin (10) into the recess on the trim (11) on the side
member (take care, this part is fragile).
F
Secure the accessory side skirt (a) to the side member by inserting expanding rivets (c) from underneath.
Repeat all the above work on the left-hand side of the car.
