Safety directions
When using a multifunction welding unit, always comply with the safety and accident
prevention statutory regulations in force.
Electric connections
Connection to the power source
The construction site switchboard to which the machine is connected shall respond to the
safety standards in force in the country of use. The electric outlet to which the welding unit
is plugged must be protected by a differential switch and have adequate grounding. The
minimum protection class for the switchboard outlets shall be IP44.
Electric connections to the devices used
All the electric connections between the construction site switchboard and the
multifunction welding unit must be carried out via abrasion resistant cables able to
withstand the most common chemical agents. Any extensions that may be required must
be in compliance with the specifications contained in this manual and have cross sections
suitable for the power required by the welding unit.
Correct use and storage
To minimise the risks of electrocution, welding units must be correctly used and stored at
all times according to the following instructions:
Avoid makeshift connections not compliant with the regulations in force.
Under all circumstances, avoid physical contact with live parts.
Never unplug the machine by pulling the cable or moving the machine away from its
power outlet.
Do not drag, hold or lift any device by their cables.
Do not walk on electric cables or place heavy, sharp or hot (70 °C/158 °F) objects on
the electric cables as the insulation sheath might be damaged.
Avoid using the welding unit in wet spots at all times: always be sure that gloves,
shoes and any other personal protection devices are dry.
Never splash water or any other liquids on the multifunction welding unit.
Check the efficiency of the electric cable insulation and of all the welding unit insulating
parts regularly and after every unusual occurrence. Dirt and moisture filtering into the
processor might affect its good functioning.
Do not use the welding unit in critical environmental conditions such as pouring rain
or electric storms.
Regularly clean your welding unit thoroughly, by making sure that the cleaning
products used are suitable and not likely to damage any part insulation. Do not use
solvents, gasoline or abrasive products.
Keep the welding unit in a dry, safe location.
Always remember to unplug the welding unit from the power source at the end of your
work shift or during breaks.
Before resuming welding unit operations, make sure that no failures or tampering are
observed.
Always wear safety goggles during welding operations.
