3 SYSTEM PRESENTATION
3.1 General
Saber 70 chp is a user-friendly, compact generator for plasma
cutting.
Saber 70 chp uses compressed air as its only gas source, which
can be supplied from a normal compressor or from a suitably
sized centralized plant. It is able to carry out, cheaply, cuts of a
high quality up to a thickness of 25 mm in carbon steel, while
still keeping its weight and size very limited.
The Saber 70 chp is equipped with an automatic circuit for the
reignition of the pilot arc, that allows metal grill structures to be
cut in the best way.
There are safety systems that cut off the power circuit when the
operator comes into contact with live parts of the machine, as
well as controls to reduce the wear on the electrode and nozzle
at the moment of striking the cutting arc.
The ignition of the pilot arc takes place without the use of high
frequency, with an increase in the working life of the parts of the
torch subject to wear, and reduction in the mains interference.
3.2 Front control panel
1
Power supply
Indicates that the equipment is connected to the mains
and is on.
2
General alarm
Indicates the possible intervention of protection devices
such as the temperature protection (consult the "Alarm
codes" section).

3
Power on
Indicates the presence of voltage on the equipment
outlet connections.
4
7-segment display
Allows the general welding machine parameters to be
displayed during start-up, settings, current and voltage
readings, while cutting, and encoding of the alarms.
5
LCD display
Allows the general welding machine parameters to be
displayed during start-up, settings, current and voltage
readings, while cutting, and encoding of the alarms.
Allows all the operations to be displayed instantaneously.
6
Main adjustment handle.
Allows the cutting current to be continuously adjusted.
Allows entry to set up, the selection and the setting of
the cutting parameters.
7
Processes/functions
Let you select the various system functions (cutting
process, cutting mode).
Lets you select a preset cutting program (synergy) by
choosing a few simple settings (XA, XP):
- type of material
- thickness of the material
8
Graphic mode
Allows the selection of the required graphic interface XE
XE (Easy Mode)
XA (Advanced Mode)
XP (Professional Mode)
9
Programs (JOB)
Allows the storage and management of 64 cutting pro-
grams which can be personalised by the operator.
3.3 Starting Screen
When switched on, the generator performs a succession of
checks in order to guarantee the correct operation of the system
and of all the devices connected to it.
3.4 Main Screen
Allows the control of the system and of the cutting process,
showing the main settings.
