BD Veritor™ Plus Analyzer Instructions for Use

Workflow Configuration Procedure

This section describes how to use the features of the BD Veritor Plus Analyzer barcode scanning module to configure various workflow
options, such as selecting whether to require scanning an Operator ID or Specimen ID each time a test is performed. The scanner may also
be used to enter various maintenance modes. See section 6 – Troubleshooting for more information on maintenance modes.
The Analyzer default settings appear in section 2.5 on page 8 – Module Specifications.
To set workflow options, the barcode scanner turns on for 2 seconds every time the Analyzer is powered on. If a configuration barcode is
not detected within those 2 seconds, the normal power up sequence continues. As the configuration scan duration is only 2 seconds, the
user should have the desired configuration barcode preselected from pages 28-29 and ready to present to the Analyzer before turning on
the Analyzer power.
The workflow configuration procedure is as follows:
1
Check the BD Veritor Plus Analyzer for an inserted device. If a device is present, remove it from the Analyzer.
2
Locate the appropriate barcode in section 7 to set the desired option.
3
Hold the Analyzer with the scanning window aimed near the appropriate barcode.
4
Press the front panel power button to turn on the power. During the self-test sequence, the scanner's red LED will flash briefly.
Immediately after the self-test completes, the display window shows SCAN CONFIG BARCODE and the scanner's red LED turns on
for 2 seconds.
5
Move the Analyzer closer or farther from the page until the red light is covering the desired barcode. The Analyzer will beep and
display a confirmatory message when the barcode is read.
6
Additional settings may be made by scanning another configuration barcode within the next 2 seconds. As many settings as desired
may be configured in this way. If the Analyzer times out and additional configurations are desired, simply turn the Analyzer power off
by holding down the power button for at least half a second and releasing it. Power up again and repeat the workflow configuration
procedure.
7
Except for USB Port Unlock, workflow options need only be set once. The Analyzer will retain the setting for its lifetime. Settings may
be changed at any time by completing the workflow configuration procedure again.
8
The USB Port Unlock barcode is scanned during the configuration scan period to enable download of test results to a computer. The
USB port remains unlocked for only the current power cycle. If the power is turned off, the USB Port Unlock barcode must be scanned
again. Each Analyzer has a unique USB Unlock barcode supplied on an adhesive label with the Analyzer. The label may be affixed to
this manual for safe keeping.

Operator Identification Scan
Set the Analyzer to prompt for Operator ID once per power cycle.
Specimen Identification Scan
Set the Analyzer to prompt for Specimen ID once per test.
Kit Lot Information Scan
Set the Analyzer to prompt for Kit Lot Information once per test.
The Analyzer records the Kit Lot expiration date in the test record but does not restrict the use of expired reagents.
