5. Position yourself and the free end of the cable (attached to the NEG battery terminal) as far away from
the battery as the cable will allow. Then, WHILE FACING AWAY FROM THE BATTERY, connect the
NEGATIVE charger clamp to the free end of the cable.
6. When disconnecting charger, turn switches to off, disconnect AC cord and disconnect charger, always
in reverse sequence of connecting procedure and break first connection while as far away from battery
as practical.
Charging Function Operation
ATTENTION: Do not plug the charger power cord into the AC power source or set any of the charger's controls
until told to do so in the following instructions.
ATTENTION: Connect and disconnect DC output clamps only after setting the power switch to the "OFF"
position and unplugging the AC cord from electric outlet. Never allow clamps to touch each other.
ATTENTION: Do not operate the charger in a closed area or restrict ventilation in any way. Ensure that there are
no obstructions to the air flow, so the internal fans can properly cool the unit.
Make a proper battery connection (see Connecting to a Battery Sections as applicable) and plug AC power cord
into an AC receptacle. Then, turn the master power switch to ON. The voltmeter should show the voltage of the
connected battery and the charger is now in Standby Mode.
1. In order to place the unit into Charging mode, select a Function setting ending in STD (Standard Flooded
Battery) or AGM (AGM/Spiral Wound Battery) at your preferred rate of charge – each battery type has several
charge rates from which to choose (See section Choosing a Charge Rate).
NOTE: If the FAULT indicator LED lights, disconnect from AC power immediately and determine the cause of the
alarm. A blinking FAULT light indicates reverse polarity connection error, while a solid ERROR light indicates the
detection of a battery fault, such as a shorted connection.
2. Once your Function setting has been chosen, choose a Mode setting appropriate for your application. You can
choose AUTO mode, in which case the charger will run the standard automatic charging routine. Or, you can
choose a specific duration of operation, as desired. In this case the charger will execute the charging process
as normal and stop at the appointed time. Finally, you can choose HOLD, in which case the charger will run
a charging routine similar to the Automatic routine. In all Modes, the charger will prevent overcharging for the
battery type selected.
NOTE: If a specific duration (60m, 120m, etc.) is chosen, the charger will run the charger routine and stop at
the appointed time. In almost every case, this will mean the battery has not yet reached full charge. When this
happens, the TIMEOUT LED will light to advise that the battery had not yet reached full charge prior to the
charger reaching the set time limit.
3. Once your Function and Mode selections are finalised, press the START/STOP button to initiate your charging
routine. The green LED on the button will light to show that the unit is in operational mode and the amber
CHARGING LED will light to show charging status.
NOTE: If the ERROR LED lights, disconnect from AC power immediately and determine the cause of the issue.

NOTE: If, once you commence the charging function and the green button LED lights to Indicate operation has
begun, you change the FUNCTION or MODE switches, the unit will return to Standby Mode.
NOTE: The charger is designed to protect against faults and shorts (see Battery Charger Features). If the battery
to be charged has an open circuit voltage of less than 1V, the charger will indicate a fault. If, after unplugging unit,
