EXPANDER PLUG
Your 795 Blade RS comes with an expander plug that is specifically-developed for the 795 steerer
tube and pre-assembled in our factory.
IMPORTANT : Never take the expander plug apart as this may cause irreversible damage.
:
1 -
Situation 1
If you already know your riding
position, make sure your steerer tube is properly cut
to 5mm below the upper surface of your stem (8).
:
Situation 2
If you do not know your riding
position, proceed with the headset assembly steps
using the open cover (47), then add the desired
number of round spacers (46) (maximum 15mm),
before cutting the steerer tube to 5mm below the
upper surface of the final spacer.
In both cases, the head of the expander plug (4) is
2mm-thick. When placed on the cut steerer tube, its
upper edge will be approximately 3mm below the
cover contact surface (3) (see diagram below).
2 - Using a degreaser, clean the inside and outside
of the steerer tube where the expander plug (4) sits,
without applying any grease.
Loosen the locking screw in the expander plug (4),
allowing the expander plug (4) to easily slide into
the steerer tube.
3 - Lightly screw the expander plug (4) into the
steerer tube by tightening the screw.
TIPS FOR CUTTING THE STEERER TUB
Cutting the steerer tube is a delicate process. For
a high-quality cut:
- use a special carbon saw or, failing that, a
hacksaw with a slightly worn blade to avoid
tearing surface carbon fibers.
- After cutting, use fine sandpaper to remove any
excess fiber.
Caution: do not cut beyond the maximum
limit indicated on the products.
4 - Tighten to a torque of 8Nm using a torque wrench.
5 - Grease and insert the screw (2) and the cap (3).
6 - Using a torque wrench, eliminate any play in the
headset by tightening the screw (2) to no more than
3 Nm.

7.2 - Check for play in the headset.
7.3 - If you still feel movement, check the
assembly steps and repeat the process after your
first ride.
