Operation

System operation
5.1.1
General
A system is an assembly of a hydraulic pump, hose(s), and one or more tools.
The hydraulic pump displaces hydraulic oil and is capable of building up pressure.
The hose is for transporting the hydraulic oil between the pump and the tool.
The single-acting tool has a hydraulic cylinder containing a plunger that can move axially. If the cylinder
is pumped full from the bottom, the pressure builds up beneath the plunger so that it is pushed to the
outside. The axial movement of the plunger is used directly to a ram or transferred to a spreading or
cutting mechanism. When the oil pressure is released on the pump, a spring forces the plunger back
into the cylinder and the oil flows back to the pump.
For Model HCC 150 U: As this model is a double acting tool, the cutter retracts by hydraulic pressure.
Also the pump unit is supplied by a double acting valve: the M323 with dead man's function.
5.1.2
High-Flow couplers
The High-Flow coupler is a screw-on coupler used on a single-hose system.
If you want to connect or disconnect a tool and/or a hose, you must first set the pressure relief valve on
the pump to the "neutral" position. After connecting the hose(s) and the tool you must set the pressure
relief valve to the "operation" position so you can use the tool.
For Model HCC 150 U:
Connect the "A" coupler, mounted at the bottom of the cylinder, to the "A" port on the M323 valve.
Connect the "I" coupler, mounted in the middle of the tool, to the "B" port on the M323 valve.
5.1.3
Single-hose couplers
The single-hose coupler is used on single hoses. Each end of the hose has a female and a male
coupler. If you want to connect or disconnect a tool and/or a hose, you must first set the pressure relief
valve on the pump to the "neutral" position. After connecting the hose and the tool you must set the
pressure relief valve to the "operation" position so you can use the tool.
5.2
Connect the hydraulic hose(s)
5.2.1
General
WARNING
Never use damaged couplers.
Caution
Never use pliers or similar to connect the hydraulic couplers.
5.2.2
Connect the High-Flow couplers
Refer to Fig. 5.
WARNING
Always make sure that the pressure relief valve is in the "neutral" position, before you
connect hydraulic hose(s) to the pump.
Remove the dust caps from the female and male couplers.
