Waste handling
IMPORTANT! Always ask the environmental office which rules apply to waste management in your
municipality. Always follow your local regulations.
Urine drain
The urine drain can be connected to either an existing greywater drain, external infiltration, external
container (for example Separett Ejectortank) or another approved solution. Don't forget to check with
the environmental office about the rules that apply in your municipality where you install the toilet.
For example, if the urine drain is connected to the Separett Ejectortank, the Ejectortank will indicate
when it is full and can be used. With this connection, you get organic plant food for the garden.
Emptying solid waste
When the urine and solid waste is separated, the capacity increases and the need for emptying
decreases. The toilet can handle high use because it is easy to change the waste container when
necessary. The solid waste is collected in the waste container which is covered with a composta-
ble waste bag. For full-time use by a household of 4 people, the container needs to be changed/
emptied about every 4-6 weeks. For short-term use, 2-3 containers are sufficient for one season.
Villa Extend has an external waste container under the floor, for an extended capacity. For
emptying reasons, the waste container must be accessible from the outside.
To empty the solid waste, the top of the toilet is opened. Make sure the top has locked properly
and then follow the steps below.
1.
Place supplied lid on the container
2.
Lift the container by the handles and pull it up from the toilet
3.
Take the container to the selected disposal place
The solid waste can be handled in one of the following ways.
Option 1
Place the container with the waste in "hibernation" for at least 12 months. Never tie the bag, if
possible, try to make holes in the bag to speed up the decomposition process.
1.
Place the container in an appropriate location outdoors in a suitable container with a solid
bottom
2.
Fill the container with a layer of soil (approx. 2 cm), make sure that the container is properly
ventilated so that air circulates in the container
3.
Let sit for 12 months. The bacteria in the soil break down the harmful organisms in the
feces, rendering the waste harmless
4.
After the storage period, the contents can be composted in an ordinary compost, garden
compost or buried along with the compostable bag
EN-24
Option 2
To be composted directly in an approved latrine compost.
Option 3
To be incinerated directly in an approved incinerator.
To close the top of the toilet, push up the two yellow locking plates until the latch releases. Then
carefully close the top and make sure it closes correctly. To ensure that the container is correctly
positioned, press the front of the seat to ensure that the waste container rotates (not valid for
Villa Extend).
