TROUBLE
CHECKS
.
The
following
chart will help correct most problems which may
occur with the unit.
If the problem persists after you have made
these checks, consult your Sony dealer.
Before
going through
the
check list of specified troubles below,
first refer back to the connections
on
page
3 and the operating
procedures on page 6.
No audio output
e Depress the POWER
switch.
Note if the Dial lights.
e Check that the power cord is plugged into a working outlet.
e Check the connections to the amplifier.
e Check the setting of the amplifier's input selector, volume con-
trol and power switch.
SIGNAL indicator reading is unstable.
e Adjust the antenna.
STEREO
lamp does not light when receiving stereo programs.
e Adjust the antenna.
e Check that the MODE
selector is at STEREO.
STEREO
lamp flickers.
e Set the MODE
selector to MONO.
elf the
SIGNAL
indicator
shows
weak
antenna
input,
use
an
appropriate
outdoor
antenna.
A multi-element
type
is recom-
mended.
elf the indicator shows sufficient level but an unstable reading,
adjust the antenna to eliminate multipath reception.
Severe hum or noise.
e Tune accurately.
e Ground the tuner.
e Avoid long horizontal runs of antenna lead.
e Keep connecting cords (or antenna lead-in) away from transfor-
mers or motors, and at least 3 meters (10 feet) from TV sets and
fluorescent lights.
e Adjust the antenna.
Ignition noise.
e Tune accurately.
e Install the outdoor antenna away from heavy traffic.
eUse a shielded or coaxial lead-in for the antenna.
Electrostatic charge
e Ground the tuner.
Tuning cannot be made with Program Sensor System.
e Check that the PROGRAM
SENSOR
button is depressed.
eCheck that the Station Marker is preset correctly.
eAdjust
the antenna.
If the input signal is insufficient, tune in
the station without the Program Sensor System.
