Maintenance and repair
WARNING
Read each step of instructions carefully
Make sure proper understanding is
achieved before proceeding
Failure to comply may lead to death or
serious personal injury
WARNING
Do not use halogenated hydrocarbon
solvents such as methylene chloride or
1, 1, 1-trichloroethane in this pump
An explosion can result with aluminium
and/or zinc-plated parts in pump come
in contact with halogenated
hydrocarbon solvents
Failure to comply may lead to death or
serious personal injury
WARNING
Release all pressure within system prior
to performing any overhaul procedure
• Disconnect air supply line from pump
motor
• Into an appropriate container, operate
control valve to discharge remaining
pressure within system
Failure to comply may lead to death or
personal injury
WARNING
Do not point a control valve at any por-
tion of body or another person Acciden-
tal discharge of pressure and/or mate-
rial can occur
Failure to comply may lead to death or
serious personal injury
Overhaul
NOTE
Refer to Fig. 4 (page 10) and Fig. IPB 1
(page 16) for component identification
for all overhaul procedures
Removal
1 Disconnect air hose from air motor (1)
2 Unscrew pump at valve seat (21) or bung
adapter (18)
Disassembly
Separate pump tube
from air motor
1 Clamp air motor (1) in a soft-jaw vise
(→ Fig. 3, page 9)
2 Unscrew tube adapter (5) from air
motor (1)
3 Remove pin (7) that secures coupling
rod (8) to air motor piston rod
4 Unscrew coupling rod from piston rod
5 Remove pump tube from air motor
Pump tube
6 Place pump tube in vise at valve seat
with coupling rod facing upward
7 Remove tube adapter (5) from tube (17)
8 Grasp coupling rod and pull piston from
tube
9 Remove tube from valve seat (21) Use
bung adapter (18) as lever
10 Remove spring (19) and valve disk (20)
8
NOTE
Use care not to lose spring (19) and
valve disk (20) during disassembly
11 Remove roll pin (10) that secures piston
adapter (9) to coupling rod (8) with
punch and a small hammer
CAUTION
Support rod coupling (8) and piston
adapter (9) during roll pin removal
Damage to components can occur
12 Unscrew coupling rod from piston
adapter
13 Unscrew piston adapter from piston
14 Remove spring and ball
NOTE
Use care not to lose spring (11) and
ball (12) during disassembly procedure
