OPERATION
PREPARATION
1. CHECKING
CONNECTIONS
e
Check the directivity of pin cord connection.
2. SETTING
OF EACH
KNOB
e
Turn the volume
control
knob counterclockwise,
to "0".
e
Set the rotary knob to "flat".
e
Set the LOUDNESS
switch to "OFF".
PLAYING A RECORD
1. Set the INPUT SELECTOR
switch to "PHONO".
2. Operate the turntable and play the record.
PLAYBACK
OF CD PLAYER
(1)
1. Set the INPUT SELECTOR
switch to "CD".
2. Operate the CD player.
RECEPTION
OF RADIO PROGRAMS
1. Set the INPUT SELECTOR
switch to "TUNER".
2. Operate the tuner to receive a radio program.
PLAYBACK
OF CD PLAYER
(2)
2. Operate the CD player.
MINALS
2. Operate the Audio equipment
Systems.
PLAYBACK
WITH TAPE DECK
Set the MONITOR/COPY switch to "TAPE-1/1>2" or "TAPE-2/2>
1" for playback.
RECORDING
WITH TAPE DECK
When
recording from a music source as turntable, tuner or CD
player, the source can be selected with INPUT SELECTOR switch.
When
MONITOR/COPY
switch
is in "SOURCE",
the program
source signal is supplied simultaneously to TAPE REC terminals.
Signals from the source
are directly recorded
on a tape deck
independent
of amplifier volume
control.
Do not turn MONITOR/COPY
switch during recording.
e@ COPYING
FROM
ONE TAPE TO ANOTHER
To copy from tape deck 1 to 2, set MONITOR/COPY switch to
TAPE-1
/ 1>2.
To copy from tape deck 2 to 1, set MONITOR/COPY switch to
TAPE-2 / 21.
While the tape is being copied, it is not possible to listen to
another program source from speakers. But in this case, it is
possible
to listen to source
selected
by CD
DIRECT
from
speakers.
e
MONITORING
THE RECORDING
A recording in progress can be monitored if a tape deck with
three individual heads for recording and playback is used. A
tape deck in which a common head is used for both recording
and playback cannot be used to monitor
recording. Set the
MONITOR/COPY
knob to Tape-1 or Tape-2 to correspond to
the tape deck that is being used for the recording. Use the
TAPE
MONITOR
switch
to switch
between
the
recording
monitor and the program
source.
Speaker Impedance
@
When
the
A and B
terminal
sets
are
to
be
used
separately, the speakers that are to be connected should
have an impedance of 4 (PMA-720) or 6 (PMA-520) to 16
ohms.
When the two terminal sets (A + B) are to be used at the
same time, use of speakers whose impedance is outside
the range from 8 (PMA-720) or 12 (PMA-520) to 16 ohms
will result in malfunction.
Be careful
not to let this
happen.
CAUTION
Protective Circuit
This set is equipped with a high speed protctive circuit. This
circuit protects the internal circuitry from damage
due to
large currents
flowing
when
the speaker jacks are not
completely connected or when an output is generated by a
short circuit. This protective circuit's operation cuts off the
output to the speakers. In such a case, be sure to turn the
power
to the set off and check the connections
to the
speakers. Then turn the power on again. After muting for
several
seconds, the set will operate normally.
