5. Electrical connection
Only by a specialist!
Please observe:
e.g. VDE 0100
EN
The installation must comply with current IEC and national local regulations or any particular
regulations, specified by the local electricity supply company
The rating plate and technical specifications
The appliance must be earthed!

Structural prerequisites
The appliance must be installed via a permanent connection.
The electrical cables must be in perfect condition.
On the installation side, an all-pole disconnecting device with a contact opening width of at
least 3 mm per pole must be provided (e.g. via line circuit breaker).
For fuse protection, a circuit breaker must be used in accordance with the cable cross-
section and the type of installation.
The cable cross-section must be dimensioned according to the rated device current and the
type of cable routing.
6. Initial operation
Vent the device according to the enclosed image manual.
After every draining (e.g. after work on the plumbing system or following
repairs to the appliance), the heater must be re-vented in this way before
starting it up again.
If the water heater cannot be put into operation, the temperature cut-out or the pressure cut-out
may have tripped during transport. If necessary, check that the power supply is switched off and
reset the cut-out (fig. F1 + F2).
Selection of power rating
Only by authorised specialist, otherwise lapse of guarantee!
Upon first connection of the appliance to the supply voltage, select the maximum power rating.
Only after having set the power rating, the heater provides its standard operation mode.
The maximum allowable power rating at installation site depends on the local situation. It is
imperative to observe all data shown in the table "Technical specifications", in particular the
required cable size and fuse protection for the electrical connection. Moreover, the electrical
installation must comply with the statutory regulations of the respective country and those of the
local electricity supply company (Germany: DIN VDE 0100).
1. Switch on the power supply to the appliance. The digital display on the appliance must light
up.
2. When switching on the supply voltage for the first time, the value "21" flashes in the display.
If not, follow the chapter "Reinstallation".
3. Select with
and
the maximum allowable power rating depending on the local situa-
tion via sensor keys (18, 21, 24 or 27 kW).
4. Select
to confirm the setting.
5. Mark the selected power rating on the rating plate.
6. After having set the maximum allowable power rating, the heating element will be activated
after approx. 10 – 30 sec of continuous water flow.
Electrical connection
Check that the power supply is switched off prior to electrical connection!
1. Strip off approximately the last 7 cm of the inflow line »A1« (fig. E2).
2. Loosen the screw of the inspection flap and remove the flap.
3. Push the connection cable from below through the cable opening in the lower part of the
housing (fig. E3) and fix it with the strain relief »A2«. The cable sheath must reach into the
strain relief.
4. Strip the insulation from the individual wires and connect them to the terminals according
to the wiring diagram (fig. E1). The appliance must be connected to the protective earth
conductor.
5. Replace the inspection flap and fix it with the screw. If necessary, widen the break-out open-
ing for the connection cable with a blunt tool.
Modbus connection (optional)
1. Loosen the screw of the inspection flap and remove the flap.
2. Cut out the opening for the Modbus cable in the inspection flap.
3. Strip approx. 3 cm of the Modbus cable and fold the shielding »5« back over the sheath (fig.
E4).
4. Strip the insulation from the individual wires (fig. E2) and connect the wires of both lines in
pairs to the Modbus plug according to their function (fig. E4).
5. Insert the Modbus plug into the socket on the unit.
6. Fix the cable with the strain relief »B2« (fig. E3). The sheath and the shield must reach into
the strain relief. The shielding of both cables must be fixed and connected by the strain relief.
7. Open the cut-outs in the inspection flap for the wiring with a blunt tool, replace the flap and
fix it with the screw.

7. Open the hot water tap. Check the function of the appliance.
8. Explain the user how the instan ta neous water heater works and hand over the operating
instructions to the user.
9. Fill in the guarantee registration card and send it to the CLAGE After-Sales Service or use
the online regis tration on our website (see also page 9).
Reinstallation
In case the appliance will be commis sioned again under different installation conditions than
during its initial ope ration, it may be necessary to adapt the maximum power rating.
A temporary short-circuit of the two pins
EN 60900, will reset all heater parameters to works setting and lock the heating. Value "21"
flashes in the display until the maximum power rating has been selected. This condition will
maintain when activating and deactivating the supply voltage.
Shower application
The water heater's temperature must be limited to 55 °C, if it is connected to a shower.
1. Press and hold
and
for two seconds and open the service menu.
2. Navigate to the item "SL" by tapping
3. Press and hold
until the countdown has counted down to zero to activate the shower
function.
When the appliance is operated with preheated water, it must be ensured that this temperature
is limited to 55 °C as well.
Note: The function can only be deactivated by a specialist via a new start-up. This may only be
done if a shower is no longer connected. All settings and statistical data will be lost.
