13.2. CLEANING
The GIR/IBC and its emptying device should be kept clean both by external agents (dirt, dust, etc.), and from accidental spills of dangerous
materials during fills, flushes, losses.
For the cleaning of metal parts, electric cables and plastics in general use non-corrosive products, preferring neutral or slightly alkaline
degreasing products. Steam systems can be used (steamer), provided that the jet is not directed against parts of the electrical system or
against the labels and/or adhesive plates applied on the body of the GIR/IBC and the metal frame of the emptying device.
13.3. TAMPERING
In addition to the provisions in section 13.5, for no reason it is possible to modify GIR/IBC regarding electric discharge device character-
istics; in particular
It is strictly prohibited to:
– Replace original equipment with other components other than the original ones, without manufacturer's warranty as
regards pressure resistance.
– Replace the plug-socket system with a permanent connection or connection systems not effectively combating flying
glitter during live connection (only for HIPPOTANK).
– Change the setting of the pressure-relief device (only for HIPPOTANK).
– Prepare additional venting devices (only for HIPPOTANK).
13.4. ACCIDENTS
In case of accidental damage to its containment and/or protection structure, and/or its devices and equipment, the GIR/IBC will be subject-
ed to extraordinary revision by the entity in charge with issuing a new report of commissioning, from which date the 30 months for further
review will be counted again, without prejudice to the 60-month maximum period of use (see § 3.5).
13.5. SPARE PARTS
Any modification or replacement of parts of the housing, as a result of damage, accident or tampering, is allowed only at EMILIANA
SERBATOI srl establishments or in centres authorised by it, as the operation is configured as "reconditioning" and as such involves the
re-issuance of the commissioning report (see § 3.5).
14. PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT
14.1. EQUIPMENT OF THE STAFF ONBOARD
Even in the case of ADR partial exemption, while not explicitly set, it is still desirable to have appropriate personal protective equipment
(PPE), also in order to comply with current legislation and legislation on health and safety at work (Decree Law 81/08 - Lgs. D. 106/2009):
– n° 1 pair of work gloves in accordance to EN 374
– n° 1 pair of slip resistant boots
– eye protection glasses
– pure water in case of eyes contamination.
In case of non-exempt transport (i.e. transport of n. 860 litres of diesel with n° 2 CTK 450 + further n. 6 cans of 25 l of diesel fuel, for a total
of 1010 litres, or transport of 920 litres of diesel with n° 1 Hippotank + further n. 5 cans of 25 l of diesel fuel, for a total of 1020 litres) all the
equipment provided for in chap. 8.1.5 ADR is compulsory (see also § 10.3).
14.2. VEHICLE EQUIPMENT
Even in the case of ADR partial exemption, we still recommend that the vehicle has a suitable drain cover, a sufficient quantity of inert
material (e.g. sand) to contain and absorb any losses, a suitable tool for collecting (e.g. spark proof shovel or spade), a containment device
(approved collection drum for packing group III, or an emergency package approved).
In the case of not exempt transport, all the facilities and equipment required in chap. 8.1.5 ADR is compulsory (see also § 10.3).
