FOCUSING
The lens is focused by rotating the focusing ring (5).
Notes:
• Because of the maximum precision guidance required for all mechanical
moving parts involved, a higher resistance can be felt than with other Leica M
lenses.
• The following is recommended to increase the setting accuracy, especially
when working at close-up range:
– If the camera model used is equipped accordingly, you should use its Live
View function to be able to focus with the help of the monitor image and,
where appropriate, the various focusing aids. It is recommended to set the
sharpness first of all. Do this with the aperture open (= minimum depth of
field). Only set the exposure afterwards, where appropriate by closing the
aperture to the desired value.
– If the camera model used does not have the Live View function, use of the
Leica viewfinder magnifier M 1.25x/1.4x is recommended (see
'Accessories', p. 24), which is simply screwed into the camera eyepiece.
Increased setting accuracy is also possible by magnifying the viewfinder
image.
