DEPTH OF FIELD SCALE
The scale (6b) on the fixed ring (6) shows the range of the depth of field for the
set distance. The ranges are indicated by the correspondingly marked sections
of the vertical lines.
LENS HOOD
The Leica Noctilux-M 75 f/1.25 ASPH. has an integrated lens hood (2) that can
be unscrewed in a clockwise direction. In the completely screwed out working
position, it is locked so that it cannot be accidentally pushed back, even if the
lens is placed face down.
For as long as the camera is being carried and used ready for photography, the
lens hood should always remain fitted. It provides effective protection against
contrast-reducing stray light and also against reflections from bright, directed
sources of light outside the image field, e.g. from the sun. However, it must be
remembered that reflections are possible even with a lens hood, especially with
bright lenses such as this. The lens hood also provides effective protection
against damage and soiling of the front lens, e.g. from accidental fingerprints.
