• If product does not pass all inspection points it should be removed from use.
During Use \ Regularly inspect and monitor the condition of the product and the
connectors of the system. Ensure all components of the equipment are correctly
positioned with respect to each other.
Detailed Inspection \ In addition to inspection before, during, and after each use,
a detailed inspection by a competent inspector must be done at least every 12
months or more frequently depending on amount and type of use. Make a copy of
these instructions and use one as the permanent inspection record.
4 \ COMPATIBILITY
Verify the product is compatible with other components of the system in the appli-
cation (compatible = good functioning interaction and alignment). (Fig 4A-C))
When using multiple pieces of equipment as a system, instructions for each piece of
equipment must be followed.
WARNING: WARNING: Product performance can be affected by environmental fac-
tors, condition of rope, and condition of the Notch Glide Rope Grab cam(s).
The Notch Glide Rope Grab is ONLY compatible with triple action, double locking
carabiners (ANSI Z359 and EN362)
5 \ INSTALLATION
• Remove the Side Plate Blade Bolt from the Rotating Side Plate and rotate the
Side Plate open (Fig 5A).
• Insert rope between the cams (Fig 5B).
• Close the Rotating Slide Plate and reinsert the Side Plate Bolt (Fig 5C). Ensure
the bolt is tightly secured.
• Visually verify the proper rope path and direction (Fig 5D).
• Change the cam setting based on rope type, rope diameter, and desired friction.
(Fig 5E-5F)
• Flip the removable cam to change between the Low and High Friction cam settings.
Cam Removal
• Open Rotating Side Plate
• Using fingers or small tool disengage cam (Fig 5E)
• Remove cam from the Lever Cam Installation
• Turn cam to desired friction setting
• Setting 2 = Low friction
• Setting 3 = High friction
• Push and snap cam securely on the Lever (Fig 5F)
Before each use test device at ground level for proper adjustment and
responsiveness.
• 6 \ FUNCTION PRINCIPLE & USE
• Verify correct product orientation (Fig 6A).
• Ensure the grab engages both cams.
• Verify the Side Plate rotate without obstruction.
• Ensure proper alignment of the connector (Fig 4A-4C).
• Connect to harness by attaching to rated harness attachment points in an
equalized manner.
• Always test the Notch Glide Rope Grab before each use!
• As necessary change out the cam orientation (Low Friction Cam or High Friction
Cam) based on rope type and desired friction.
7 \ PRECAUTION FOR USE
• Ensure the grab does not bend across foreign objects while in use. (Fig 7A)
• Ensure proper alignment of the connector. (Fig 4A-4C)
• Verify proper connection of the grab to the harness.
8 \ TRACEABILITY AND MARKINGS
Do not remove any markings or labels. Markings must remain legible during the
entire lifes-pan of the product. The product can be traced through its own markings
and the present user instructions manual.
