Fitting and removing the battery (05)
IMPORTANT! Danger of damage to the re-
chargeable battery. If the rechargeable battery
is left in the appliance after use, it may damage
the rechargeable battery.
■
Immediately after use, pull the rechargeable
battery out of the appliance and store in a
frost-protected area.
■
Only insert the rechargeable battery in the
appliance immediately before starting work.
Installing the battery
1. Push the battery (05/1) into the battery slot
(05/2) until it engages (05/a).
Removing the battery
1. Press and hold the release button (05/3) for
the turning movement on the battery.
2. Pulling out the rechargeable battery (05/b).
5 OPERATION
WARNING! Risk of injury due to detach-
ing appliance parts. Appliance parts detaching
during operation can lead to serious injury.

Before turning the appliance on, check that
all the parts of the appliance are firmly tight-
ened.
■
Attach cutting tools so that they cannot de-
tach during operation.
5.1
Putting on the battery belt system*
Proceed as described in the quick-start guide of
your battery belt system:
1. Put on the battery belt system*.
2. Place the battery* into the belt system until it
engages.
*: not included in the scope of supply.
5.2
Switching the hedge trimmer ON and
OFF (06)
Switching on the hedge trimmer
1. Stand securely.
2. Hold the front handle (06/1) with one hand
and the rear handle (06/2) with the other
hand.
3. Press the ON/OFF button (06/3).
Note: The appliance switches off automati-
cally when the battery is flat or if the appli-
ance is not used for 5 minutes.
4. Press the safety switch (06/4) on the front
handle (06/a), then press the safety switch

(06/5) on the rear handle (06/b).
Note: The safety switches must be pressed
within one minute.

The appliance starts.
■
The LED (03/3) lights up green.
5. Hold both safety switches pressed while
working.
Switching off the hedge trimmer
1. Release one of the safety switches (06/4,
06/5).
5.3
ECO mode function (02)
The ECO mode function allows you to reduce the
speed of the cutting blade. This prolongs the op-
erating time of the battery.
1. Press ECO mode button (02/7).
2. Press the button again to deactivate ECO
mode.
If the appliance is switched off and then switched
on again, it starts with the previously selected
setting.
5.4
Turning the rear handle (07)
Turning the handle
1. Pull release button (07/1) for the turning
movement back (07/a).
2. Turn the handle (07/2) to the left or right by
90° or 45° (07/b) until it engages.
3. Release the button for the turning movement.
Turning the handle back
1. Pull release button (07/1) for the turning
movement back (07/a).
2. Turn the handle (07/2) back to the initial posi-
tion until it engages (07/b).
3. Release the button for the turning movement.
5.5
Wall bracket (08)
The protective cover (08/1) for the cutting blade
has two hanging holes (08/2). These allow the
hedge trimmer to be hung up with the protective
cover on a vertical surface, e.g. wall or board.
Screw in the screws only far enough that the pro-
tective cover and hedge trimmer can be easily re-
moved and replaced.
5.6
Clearing blockages of the cutting blade
WARNING! Danger of cuts and lacera-
tions. Danger of cuts and lacerations when
reaching into the cutting blade.
■
Always switch off the appliance and remove
the battery before clearing blockages!
