Cleaning and care of the PerioSonic
Cleaning and disinfection
Manual cleaning must always be combined with disin-
fection.
Cleaning
The ultrasonic handpiece can be cleaned by brushing it
off under running water (< 38 °C, of at least drinking wa-
ter quality). This also applies to the dismantled tips and
the torque wrench without tip.
ATTENTION
Never lubricate the ultrasonic handpiece!
ATTENTION
Before every cleaning procedure verify the correct
seating and check the condition of the sealing ring A.
If it is defective, damaged or worn, this can lead to false
detection results.
The sealing ring must be replaced once a year.
Cleaning the water channel
We recommend cleaning the water channel in the instru-
ment tip on a regular basis. To do this, push the clean-
ing wire (30) included in delivery through the channel
and blow out.
Blow out the handpiece.

Cleaning the light guide surfaces
Unscrew the signal ring (31) for this purpose.
In order to prevent the surfaces (32) from getting
scratched, blow off any dirt particles with air.
Prior to sterilizing, wipe the surfaces with a cotton
swab or soft cloth and alcohol.
If the signal ring is discolored, please replace it.
Disinfection:
External spray and wipe disinfection is permitted with
instrument disinfectants that are approved in their re-
spective country and have proven bactericidal, fungicid-
al and virucidal properties.
You can use for instance:
MinutenSpray classic from Alpro
MinutenWipes from Alpro
In the USA and Canada:
CAVIWIPES™
Please observe the manufacturer's instructions for using
the instrument disinfectants.
Do not use any strong acid, alkaline solutions
(5 < pH < 9) or solutions containing chlorine.
