HOW TO INSTALL THE WELDING FILTER
To install and replace the selected welding filter or any of the lenses, simple unscrew the
lens retaining screw to install or remove the filter. The welding filter is the most important
element for eye protection and should be protected between spatter and inner lenses
during use. Protective spatter lenses are likely to be replaced more frequently, always clean
the welding filter when any of the lenses is replaced with the use of a clean piece of cloth
(preferably moistened with pure alcohol or any mild commercially available disinfectant).
If used and protected properly, the welding filter shouldn't require any maintenance during
its service lifetime. Change regularly the protective spatter protection lens in order to
protect the mineral glass or the Auto Darkening Filter. Failure to replace the protective lens
might cause damage to the welding filter which could result in voiding the manufacturer's
warranty.
Replacing the Protective Spatter Lens:
Ensure that the helmet is always equipped with a protective lens (before the filter, on the
outside of the helmet) and inner lens (behind the filter, inside the helmet). The protective
lenses must be replaced if broken, damaged or covered with welding spatter to such an
extent that vision is impaired. Inner & outer lenses are consumables and must be replaced
regularly with certified Jackson Safety
for the first time, the protective films must be removed from all lenses. Please follow the
instructions below to remove the outer lens without damaging the front frame.
Removing the Front Frame & Spatter Lens
The front frame is held in place by 4 clips (two at the top plus 2 at the sides) and 2 lugs
(at the bottom). To remove the front frame, from the inside of the helmet press down on
the two clips at the top (drawing1). It should now be possible to remove the front frame by
holding the top of the frame and pulling, the top & side clips should release. The frame will
now lift out from the bottom. The outer lens can be removed by pressing it from the front
(drawing 2).
Inserting a New Spatter Lens:
The protective films must be removed from the new outer lens before insertion, (drawing
3). To replace the new spatter lens in the front frame, insert the lens from the back, with
front facing forwards and press on all 4 sides until the six holding clips click back into place
(drawing 4).
Replacing the Front Frame:
Re-install the front frame by placing the two lugs on the bottom into the two slots on the front of the shell (drawing 5). Then apply pressure all round the
frame, so that the 4 clips snap into place. Check that the front frame is firmly in place.
WARNINGS
Do not use for overhead welding where there is a falling molten metal hazard. This welding helmet/filter system does not provide protection from molten
metal and spatter during overhead welding.
Jackson Safety
welding helmets offer 99.9% UVA/UVB protection and also face and eye protection against sparks caused during the described fields of
®
use when worn properly as per instructions provided. This safety device offers limited protection against molten and hot solids. Welding helmets should
not be dropped. Do not place heavy or hot objects on or inside the helmet.
The recommended minimum safe minimum distance from the arc is 50cm (20 inches). Do not look directly at intense light with unprotected eyes when
the arc strikes as is likely to cause painful inflammation and/or irreversible damage to the eyes. Always ensure that the helmet is equipped with an outer
and inner lenses to protect the filter, in particular for toughened mineral filters.
The service life time of the components and products is highly determined by the conditions of use as not specific end of life time has been determine.
Please check regularly of the consumable components and replace if serviceability or visibility is suspected to be affected, and finally dispose when
critical components not offered as spares are suspected to be damaged or if serviceability is affected. All components of these products are recyclable.
Always follow local regulation to recycle or dispose of this product and its components.
The welding filter must not be used for any other purpose other than welding. It should never be used as sunglasses when driving as this could lead to
incorrect identification of the colour of traffic lights. Selected models are provided with side windows with a UV IR 5 filter protection, please be aware that
the filter protection offered for those side protector can't exceed that level and may result in higher light intensity reaching the eyes.
The WH50 Multiview helmets provided with tinted side windows should not be used in areas surrounded by reflecting surfaces or in cases where multiple
welding activities take place in a reduced area. Alternatively, opaque Jackson Safety
This safety device offers limited protection against molten and hot solids. For applications that require grinding, only use a shield with a minimum B rating
that can provide adequate impact resistance for protecting eyes and face.
Welding helmets can only resist a certain amount of heat. Please do not place hot electrode holders inside the helmet and please do not place the helmet
near naked flames or hot work surfaces. Scratched or damaged visors and lenses must always be replaced if broken, damaged or covered with spatter
to the extent that vision is impaired. The user should conduct daily regular checks to ensure no damage is evident.
Warning! materials which may come into contact with wearer's skin could cause allergic reactions to susceptible individuals.
Please be aware that in the power-off state, the head units incorporated to the R60 AIRMAX respiratory device are not intended to provide any respiratory
protection to the wearer. Furthermore, in this "power-off" state, a rapid build-up of carbon dioxide and depletion of oxygen within the face seal may occur.
Always turn on the blower unit before exposing to the contaminated environment.
Spare TH2 particle filters are available for the R60 AIRMAX Power Assisted Purifying Respiratory System, always install original Jackson Safety filters
and verify that filters make reference to EN 12941 when used with this system.
