6. Commissioning, operation
6.2 Making the electrical connection
The instrument must be earthed via the process connection.
■
The power supply for the pressure transmitter must be made via an energy-limited electrical circuit per
■
EN
UL/EN/IEC 61010-1 or an LPS to UL/EN/IEC 60950-1 or class 2 per UL1310/UL1585 (NEC or CEC). The
power supply must be suitable for operation above 2,000 m should the pressure transmitter be used at this
altitude.
Only ever use a power source that ensures a safe electrical isolation of the operating voltage in accordance
■
with IEC/DIN EN 60204-1. In addition, observe the general requirements for PELV circuits in accordance
with IEC/DIN EN 60204-1. Switching power supply units are permissible, if they ensure a safe isolation as
defined by IEC/EN 60950-1.
Long signal lines reduce the immunity to interference. Ensure that the length of the signal cable is always
■
shorter than 30 m. In this way you can avoid non−operate currents caused by electromagnetic interference.

Ingress protection per IEC 60529
6.3 Functional check
The output signal must be proportional to the prevailing pressure. If this is not the case, this may
indicate a damaged diaphragm. In this case, see chapter „8. Faults".
