7. Return the front heating platen to its original position
when finished cleaning.
8. Close the machine by releasing the left rear lever and
pressing down on both sides of the cover until the
latch clicks and locks in position.
Cleaning the Backup Bars
The back-up bars are located under the top cover. These
bars can accumulate adhesive over time. Use caution
and the heat protective glove when handling the bars if
they are hot.
1. Turn the power switch to Off and wait 5 minutes before
cleaning.
2. Remove any books from the Cooling Rack.
3. Open the machine by pushing the eraser end of
a pencil (or similar object) through the hole in the
lower right corner of the machine (figure 30) until the
machine cover pops open slightly.
4. Raise the cover until the latch engages and the cover
is held in the upright position.
CAUTION: Other internal parts besides the
backup bars can be very hot, so be careful.
5. To clean the front backup bar, pull the front bar
toward you and, at the same time, push back the
rear bar. While wearing the heat protective glove,
clean the surfaces of the bar with a clean dry cloth
dampened with the Cleaning Solution provided in
your Accessory Pack. (figure 31)
6. To clean the rear backup bar, pull the rear bar
toward you and, at the same time, push back the
front bar. Clean in the same manner as noted above
the surfaces of the bar.
7. Close the machine by releasing the left rear lever and
pressing down on both sides of the cover until the
latch clicks and locks in position.
