F. Needle position
The needles to be used for a specific stitch are
indicated by dot(s) above the needle position marks.
Remove a needle if not to be used.
Tilting up the needle clamp
The needle clamp can be tilted up for easy needle
replacement and threading.
IMPORTANT:
When removing and inserting the needles, be sure to:
– turn the power switch q off.
– turn the handwheel toward you and match the
alignment marks w.
– swing up the presser foot lever e to lower the
presser foot (see page 48).

Grasp the tab and pull the needle clamp up while
pushing the red button.

CAUTION:
Do not turn the handwheel while the needle clamp is
tilted up.
Removing the needle
Loosen the setscrew with the Allen screwdriver.
Pull the needle down to remove.
Lightly tighten the setscrew to prevent it from loosening
during sewing.
Inserting the needle
Loosen the setscrew of the desired needle position.
Insert the needle with the flat side to the back.
Push the needle straight up as far as it will go and
tighten the setscrew securely.
Tilting down the needle clamp
Grasp the tab and push the needle clamp down while
pushing the red button.
Release the red button when the needle clamp is
locked in position.
Turn the handwheel slowly and check that the
needle(s) does not hit or thrust the presser foot or
needle plate.
