n CLEANING THE VEHICLE
GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
Never clean the vehicle with a high-pressure device equipped with a strong
water jet. Excessive pressure can damage the electrical components, connec-
tors, flexible cables, brake pads etc. the high-pressure may damage or destroy
these components.
Frequently wash the vehicle with cold water if it is used near the sea (salt) or on
roadways that are subjected to salt spreading in winter. Cover, all the unpainted
parts, with a light coating of oil or silicone spray.
Do not treat rubber parts and brakes. Put an appropriate plug in the exhaust
system to prevent water from entering. When cleaning, avoid direct sunlight.
Avoid directing the water jet on the air filter case coverand on the carburetor
body.
WASHING METHOD
To soften the accumulated dirt and mud on the paints, use a jet of water. Once softened, mud
and dirt should be removed with a soft sponge saturated with plenty of water and shampoo
(2-4% shampoo in water). Then rinse thoroughly with water and dry with compressed air and
a soft cloth or a chamois.
Detergents pollute the water. Also, the washing of the vehicle must be done in a place equip-
ped for the recovery and purification of washing liquids.
AFTER WASHING
Open the air filter box and make sure it is dry. After cleaning, drive for a short distance until the
engine reaches its normal operating temperature.
WARNING
• With wet brakes the braking effect is reduced. Activate the brakes carefully to allow them to dry.
• Push the handlebar switch protective cover backwards so that the water evaporates.
• When the motorcycle is completely dry and cool, lubricate all moving and working points.
• Clean all the plastic and painted components with detergents or non-aggressive products specifically
designed for car care.
