5.2. Getting in and out from the
front
Swing the foot plates upwards or remove the leg rests (Fig. 45).
Bring the Pyrolino and the current or future seating area so that
their respective fronts are as close to each other as possible and
brake the Pyrolino (Fig. 46).
45
If the child wants to move from another wheelchair or indoor frame,
secure this by activating the locking brakes.
Now let the child slide onto the seat by turning its body.
Finally, return the leg rests to their original position and swing the
foot plates downwards

5.3. Negotiating stairs
and high steps
47
Helpers must only take hold of securely fitted parts of the frame.
The lifting points are represented depending on the model
equipment (Fig. 47).
When going up stairs, the helper behind the wheelchair pulls the
wheelchair over the step holding it by the securely fitted handles
(Fig. 48).
48
The helper who is below takes hold of the front frame tubes and
stabilises the position. At the same time, they push the rear wheels
of the wheelchair against the steps.
58
Never climb on the footrests!
Risk of tipping!
In case of obstacles and stairs with more than three
steps, help from two companions is needed.
Children's wheelchair |
When going down stairs, the helper who is below brakes by pushing
the wheelchair right against the steps. The helper who is above
holds the wheelchair by the push handles, secures it and holds it in
the right position. The wheelchair should roll down step by step.
The frame and the push handles are ....are the
only parts where the wheelchair can be gripped
to transport it. Under no circumstances should
armrests be used to lift the wheelchair

5.4. Moving the wheelchair

Seat the child in the B+B wheelchair. Make sure that the child is sitting
as far back in the seat as possible.
Moving and braking are achieved via the push rims on the drive wheels
(Fig. 49). Make sure that the first attempts at movement are carried
out carefully, until the child has become accustomed to the wheelchair
and its handling.
Wheelchairs have only limited anti-tip and anti-slip security. Particular
care is advised when braking, starting or when turning on gradients.
Leaning out too far from the wheelchair increases the risk of tipping
over. For greater safety, all wheelchairs can be equipped with a safety
belt (Fig. 50) (not standard).
Please note that hanging bags and rucksacks
on the backrest significantly increases the risk of
tipping over backwards
The locking brake must be activated before getting into or out of the
wheelchair (Fig. 46).
