USER'S MANUAL. PROLITE-60
FIELD OPTICAL SPECTRUM ANALYSER
1 GENERAL
1.1 Description
The PROLITE-60 is a field optical spectrum analyser, an instrument portable,
powered through batteries. It is suitable for multiple applications, among others the
verification of WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) / CWDM (Coarse Wavelength
Multiplexing Division) telecommunication systems, in addition by means of several
options and accessories also available, it can be used in applications of reflectometry,
analysis of materials, optical fibre sensors, verification of photonics devices such as
filters, attenuators, couplers, insulators and other optical components.
The instrument includes specific functions that they allow it to characterise the
response of different optical transmission systems, as for example the LEDs, DWDM,
DFB, FP, OA measurements. All these measurements are configurable through the
accessible parameters by means of graphical menus on a user intuitive screen.
In the optical spectrum analysis mode it offers two movable cursors, which act as
markers throughout the wavelength exploration range.
The SPAN is configurable from 10 nm to 400 nm in order to facilitate the
spectrum visualization in the horizontal scale, also on the vertical scale can be set 10
dB or 2 dB divisions to obtain a greater resolution for measurements.
It offers ten memory positions to store the previously registered traces and to
work later. The acquired measures can be reviewed, be transferred to a PC or be
printed at any time. Also, it allows the remote access to the data registered through a
TCP/IP network (Web Server).
The PROLITE-60 gives an answer to the necessities of making selective
measurements in wavelength, for telecommunication operators, which transmit multiple
wavelengths through a same optical fibber simultaneously, in order to profit the
currently deployed networks.
In the PROLITE-60 design a special care has been taken to create a practical,
accurate, yet easy-to-use device. A complete alphanumeric keypad facilitates direct
access to the various operating modes. Once accessed, ambidextrous navigation and
selection keys can be used to easily modify any parameter of the measurements.
The integration of all of these functions in a device with lightweight and small size,
with ergonomic and robust design, make the PROLITE-60 an unbeatable fieldwork tool.
