Electricity and compressed air installation
General
Wiring and connection diagrams as well as details about
fuses and settings for the overload relay etc. are found
after the illustrated section of the manual.
Fig. 7 shows schematically the normal connections to
a FlexPAK800/1000. Connecting material e.g., cables
and hoses is not included in the delivery, this must be
purchased locally.
The electical connection must not be equipped with
an earth leakage circuit breaker while the frequency
converter is provided with an EMC-filter. The EMC-filter
function will make the earth leakage circuit breaker to
shut-off the power.
1. Incoming 3-phase power supply with PE cable.
2. Switch-disconnector according to standard
3. Power cable to the unit.
4. Compressed air valve, size G1/4" or G1/2".
5. Water and dirt trap. Compressed air supply must be
clean and dry.
6. Compressed air supply, Ø 6 mm nylon hose.
7. Inlet Ø 150 mm.
8. Exhaust air duct Ø 160 mm (for lengths < 12 m).
NOTE! The exhaust air duct should be routed
straight and as short as possible
9. Pilot signal cable (PS) from valves at workstations.
The unit should not be runned without pilot signal
cable installed, the frequency converter may be over
heated. AS-set is required for all valves.
The pipe work should be built with plain
steel pipe. Plastic pipe, PVC for instance,
must not be used. Almost all types of dust
pick up static electricity when sucked
though a plastic pipe and this significantly
increases the risk for an explosion if the
dust is explosive.
Air pressure hoses are mounted together
with electrical cables with straps, alternati-
vely in a common protective hose. Air pres-
sure hoses must be anchored mechanini-
cally.
Connected wiringsystem shall be eletri-
cally connected to the PUS (Potentional
Equalizing System) in the building
Starting a new unit
The unit with options is tested before delivery and all
functions are checked. Before start-up ensure that
• the switch-disconnector is installed.
• the plant room, if small, has ventilation openings. See

Site.

• the plastic sack is in place in the collector bin. The
unit should not be run without a plastic sack!
• the pipe work is connected to the dust collector inlet.
• an exhaust air duct is attached to the outlet to lead
away hot exhaust air. Under no circumstances should
the unit be operated without leading off the exhaust
air. Objects can fall directly into the fan and cause
severe damage.
• the compressed air supply is permanently connected.
The idling function and the filter cleaning will not work
properly without a compressed air supply.
• the pilot signal cable is connected but no valves at
work sites are open.
Controls and adjustments in the control unit may be
necessary during first start up. The control unit lid must
then be removed. (The PLC and the software are pass-
word protected)
No unauthorised persons may remain in
the vicinity of the unit when the control unit
is open. Authorised personnel that carry
out inspections/adjustments on the control
equipment must exercise immense care to
avoid electrical shocks.
Always disconnect the supply voltage
using the switch-disconnector when carry
out inspections/adjustments. The frequency
converter must not be opened. If the fre-
quency converter must be opened, wait 5
minutes before open, see safety.

Initial start-up:

The acoustic enclosure should be removed
during initial start-up to check the direction
of rotation. Check that there are no open
vacuum valves at the workplaces.
• Switch the disconnector to 1.
• Press in the white button on the control panel marked
, figure 3. The lamp in the push-button should come
on and the display then shows "Standby".
