Procedure:

An adapter cable (item 1) is required to connect the
connector cable (item 2) for the CRE 800 control
device to the dosing unit (ZME) on the common rail
pump. This is included in the delivery specification
of the CRS 845 / CRS 845H tester set.

For most CP3 common rail pumps, the adapter cable
with compact connector 1 684 460 255 (item 2) is
required as an adapter for the dosing unit (ZME).
For all other CP3 common rail pumps, the universal
adapter cable with flat plug connection 1 684 460 256
(item 3)must be used.

The polarity at the electrical connection for the dos-
ing unit (ZME) is irrelevant. For this reason, when
using the universal adapter cable 1 684 460 256
(item 2) no account needs to be taken of polarity.

Connect the connector cable (item 1) for the
CRE 800 control device (item 2 or item 3) to the dos-
ing unit (ZME) for the common rail pump.

5. Testing

Before the start of testing, heed the information
given in the testing and repair instructions for high-
pressure pumps in ESI[tronic].

Perform pump testing as described in the operating
instructions for the CRS 845 / CRS 845H tester set.
5.1

Prior to testing

Check the following items before switching on the
EPS 815:
R
Is the test equipment properly connected?
R
Have all the protective devices (e.g. guard) been fit-
ted and are these fully functional?
R
Has the component to be checked (e.g. common
rail pump) been properly clamped and connected
(hydraulically and electrically)?
R
Is the outlet for the lubricating oil supply at the
EPS 815 sealed with a dummy plug (common rail
pumps with no lubricating oil supply only)?
R
Is the return cock closed?
R
Is the return connection at the support arm sealed
with a dummy plug (only necessary if there is no
common rail pump connected)?
