Initial operation

Care should be taken during installation of the unit to ensure that the
ventilation slots are not covered and the installation site is suitable for
Protection Class IP23.
5.1

Safety directions

Please read the operating instructions carefully, especially
2, Safety Instructions, prior to commissioning of the equipment and
before you begin working on this welding current source.
Warning!
REHM welding units may be operated only by persons who have
been trained and instructed in the use, maintenance and safety
regulations of welding units.
Always wear protective clothing during welding and ensure that other
people who are in the vicinity are not endangered by UV radiation from the
arc.
5.2

Working under increased electrical risk

REHM welding equipment complies with the regulations for working
under increased electrical risk according to IEC 974, EN 60974-1 and BGR
500 Ch. 2.26.
Care should be taken that the welding current source is not set up in this
area when working under increased electrical danger. Please observe
regulations EN 60974-1 and BGR 500 Ch. 2.26.
5.3

Setting up the welding unit

Set up the REHM welding unit so that the welder has sufficient space in
front of the machine to observe and operate the controls.
When transporting the unit, always comply with the applicable accident
prevention regulations.
Danger! Electric power!
Do not use the welding unit in the open air when it is raining!
5.4

Connection of the welding unit

Connect the REHM welding current source to the power mains in
accordance with the current provisions of VDE (Association of German
electrical engineers) and also observe the regulations of the appropriate
safety authorities.
When connecting the unit, observe the information regarding the supply
voltage and fuse protection. Automatic circuit breakers and fuses must
always be rated for the current indicated. The necessary information can
be found on the rating plate of your unit.
Always switch off the equipment when it is not in use.
Screw the cylinder pressure reducer to the cylinder threaded section and
check the connection for any leakage. Always close the cylinder valve
