The electrode diameter depends on the welding current. A diameter of
1.6 mm is recommended for welding currents up to 70 A and 2.4 mm for
higher currents.

BOOSTER.PRO 170 with gas management

In the case of the BOOSTER.PRO with gas management, the shielding
gas valve is integrated in the welding unit. With the REHM WP17/4m KM
(REHM order no. 763 1747) or WP17/8m KM TIG torch (REHM order no.
763 1748), the shielding gas flow and the output voltage are controlled
in the four-step mode by pressing the torch button. This ensures
optimum gas shielding for the weld and economical gas consumption.
Reworking and unnecessary expense are avoided.
Procedure: Place the electrode on the workpiece. As there is no output
voltage, no current flows. This prevents wear on the electrode and the
workpiece.
1st step: Press torch button
2nd step: Release torch button
3rd step: Press torch button
4th step: Release torch button

The solenoid valve for the shielding gas is opened
After the fixed gas pre-flow time (0.1 sec.), the reduced ignition
current flows
When the electrode is lifted off the workpiece, the arc is safely
ignited by the INTIG Energy system, preventing damage to the
electrode and the workpiece.
If the torch button is released before the electrode is lifted off the
workpiece, the ignition process is switched off. (there is no
welding current)
If the button is released after lifting off the electrode, this has no
effect. (welding current flowing)
The current is switched off.
Shielding gas continues to flow as long as the torch button is
pressed. The post-flow time can therefore be adapted to the
welding task in hand in accordance with individual requirements
(min. 5 seconds).
In order to ensure that shielding gas supply continues for a
sufficiently long time, the solenoid valve remains open for at least
5 sec., even if the torch button is only pressed briefly in step 3.
If the torch button is pressed for 5 sec. or longer in step 3, the
shielding gas solenoid valve is closed immediately when the
button is released.
