Pattern:
#6
Stitch length:
0.3–1
Stitch width:
3–6.5
Foot:
R: Automatic buttonhole foot
Thread tension:
2–6
Preparation for sewing:
Attach the automatic buttonhole foot R. Make sure the
groove on the foot holder catches the pin on the foot
when lowering the presser foot.
The buttonhole size is automatically set by placing the
button in the rear of the automatic buttonhole foot.
The button holder on the foot takes a button up to 1.0"
(2.5 cm) in diameter.
Make a test buttonhole on an extra piece of the fabric to
check your settings.
Use interfacing on stretch fabrics.
To sew:
z Pull the button holder to the back, and place the
button in it. Push it forward tightly against the button.
x Pull the buttonhole lever down as far as it will go.
c Draw both threads to the left under the foot.
Insert the garment under the foot, and lower the
needle into the fabric to the starting point.
Then lower the automatic buttonhole foot.
Depress the foot control to sew a buttonhole.
Stop the machine when the buttonhole is completed.
v Remove the fabric and place a pin just before the
bartack at each end, to prevent cutting bartacks.
Cut the opening with the buttonhole opener.
When finished, push the buttonhole lever up as far as
it will go.
To sew another buttonhole, you must reset the machine.
Reset by shifting the stitch selector in either direction,
"1" or "2", to the next setting.
Then shift the selector back to the buttonhole setting.
