INFORMATION
► Taking the plaster cast: Total surface weight-bearing socket, "Har
mony" principle
► Shaping the plaster model: Length reduction 3 mm, global circum
ference reduction: 3% to 4%
5.1 Fabricating the inner socket
Required tools and materials:
>
755T4=360 Outer Ring, 755X104=360 Vacuum Tube (with vacuum seal
ing ring), 755E9 Vacuum Pump, 99B25 Tube Sock, 616T53=* Thermo
Lyn soft, 617H46 Bonding Agent
1) Mark the contour of the inner socket on the plaster model (see Fig. 2).
2) Position the dummy on the distal surface of the plaster positive in the
lengthwise axis of the residual limb and secure it with the countersunk
head screw (see Fig. 3).
3) Pull a tube sock over the plaster positive.
4) Complete the vacuum forming process with ThermoLyn.
5) Sand the inner socket flat on the distal end until the head of the counter
sunk head screw is exposed.
6) Unscrew the countersunk head screw.
7) Trim the contour of the inner socket.
8) Remove the inner socket from the plaster positive.
9) Press out the fixation dummy and pin receiver on the inside of the inner
socket and remove them.
10) Sand down the contour of the inner socket to thin it.
11) INFORMATION: For installation after sanding, the pin receiver
thread has to be evenly exposed.
Sand the distal end of the inner socket flat at right angles to the length
wise axis of the residual limb.
12) Coat the pin receiver with bonding agent and insert it in the inner socket
(see Fig. 4).
13) Coat the lock nut with bonding agent and thread it onto the pin receiver
until the internal thread is completely filled (see Fig. 5).
