6.1.2 Cutting the retaining ring to length
INFORMATION
The short retaining ring (item 3) must not be cut to length.
The long retaining ring (item 2) has to be cut to length.
1) Place the ankle protector around the tube adapter and slide it up to the joint plane of the foot
(see fig. 1).
2) Mark the tube adapter at the top of the ankle protector (see fig. 2).
3) Remove the ankle protector.
4) Measure the distance from the mark on the tube adapter to the top of the tube adapter (see
fig. 3).
5) Transfer the measured length onto the long retaining ring.
Measure from the underside of the circumferential sleeve (see fig. 4).
6) Cut the retaining ring to length at the mark using a saw (see fig. 5).
7) Deburr the cut edge.
6.2 Assembling the ankle protector
6.2.1 Retaining ring, long
1) Carefully stretch the retaining ring slightly and place it over the tube adapter (see fig. 6).
Align the cut edge of the retaining ring in the direction of the foot adapter.
Dorsally position the slot opening of the retaining ring.
2) Apply a thin, double-sided adhesive tape between the retaining ring and the tube adapter to
prevent gliding movements between the retaining ring and the tube adapter.
3) Slide the retaining ring down until it rests on the top edge of the tube adapter.
