the required programme is selected.
Balancing weight application
- Select the plane where the first balancing weight
is to be applied.
- Turn the wheel until the central element of the
corresponding position indicator lights up.
If the weight to be applied is a conventional
clip type(inner side in Alu 2P), apply it on the
corresponding 12 o'clock position. If instead
the type of weight to apply is adhesive and the
CLP mode was selected (see the " Selection of
Adhesive Weight Application Position" section):
- Position it inside the cavity of the weight-holder
terminal of the measuring arm (fig.25,a,b), with
the backing paper of the adhesive strip facing
up. Then remove the guard (fig.25c).

-
Move the sensor until it reaches the signalled
EM 9550 - Operator's manual
position. During this phase, the unbalance
value of the side to be balanced is shown on
one display, whereas the numerical value up-
dated according to the sensor position, which
becomes zero when the position for applica-
tion of the weight is reached, is shown on the
other display.
- Turn the end of the measuring arm until the
weight adhesive strip is in line with the rim
surface.
- Press the button (fig.25d) to eject the weight
and make it stick to the rim.
- Return the measuring arm to the rest position
(fig.25e).
- Repeat the operations to apply the second
balancing weight.
If the weight to apply is adhesive and H.12 mode
was selected, apply it on both planes in the posi-
24
tion corresponding to 12 o'clock.
If the weight to apply is adhesive and the LAS
mode was selected, apply the weight in cor-
respondence of the laser line in the position in
which the respective plane was acquired.
- Perform a test wheel spin to check the balancing
accuracy.
The rim surface must be perfectly clean to make
the weight stick efficiently to the rim. If neces-
sary, clean the surface using suitable cleansing
products.
"Movable planes" programme
(available only with ALU P pro-
This function is automatically enabled when an
ALU P programme is selected.
The function modifies the positions selected for
the application of adhesive weights, to ensure
c
perfect wheel balancing using commercially
available adhesive weights (in multiples of five
grams). The accuracy of the machine is thereby
improved, avoiding rounding off or cutting the
weights to be applied to come closer to the actual
unbalance values.
The modified positions, where the adhesive
weights are to be applied, are identified by the
user according to the information given by the
wheel balancer (see the BALANCING WEIGHT
e
APPLICATION section).
