4.3.2
Putting on the chemical protective suit
NOTICE
i
i
Get a second person to assist you with donning the
suit.
1. Put on underclothing (moisture-wicking work clothing,
cotton gloves).
NOTICE
i
i
Dräger recommends tucking the trouser legs of the
underclothing into the socks to prevent the trouser legs
shifting.
To prevent the cotton gloves slipping down, they
should be fixed on the wrist using insulation tape.
2. Put on the compressed air breathing apparatus and full
face mask.
3. Put on the safety helmet or mask/helmet combination.
4. Check proper functioning of compressed air breathing
apparatus, full face mask and mask/helmet combination as
described in the relevant instructions for use.
5. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with gas-tight
integrated socks:
a. Without shoes, first step into the right trouser leg, then
into the left trouser leg.
b. If necessary, wear oversocks on top of the socks.
c. Don the safety boots.
6. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with gas-tight
integrated safety boots: Without shoes, first step into the
right trouser leg and into the safety boot, then into the left
trouser leg and the safety boot.
7. Pull up the chemical protective suit to the waist.
8. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with a ventilation
unit:
a. Connect the air supply inside the chemical protective
suit.
b. Close the integrated waist belt.
9. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with a D-connect,
close the integrated waist belt.
10. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with a crotch
strap, hook the crotch strap onto the waist belt of the self-
contained breathing apparatus. Pull the end of the crotch
strap to adjust it to the desired length.
11. Pull the hood over the head and insert your right arm into
the right sleeve and glove. Slide the backpack of the
chemical protective suit over the respiratory protective
device. Slip the left arm into the left sleeve and glove.
12. Connect the lung demand valve to the full face mask.
13. Close the fastener system. Always pull in the direction of
the zip. Do not use force!
14. Close the cover flap of the zipper.
15. Fit the overgloves if required:
Pull the K-MEX-Gigant overglove over the arm ring and
secure it with the corresponding rubber ring.

Observe during use
CAUTION
!
A heat build-up in the chemical protective suit can
result in circulatory collapse; for this reason, wear a
cooling vest underneath or use a suitable ventilation
system, as appropriate.
Never start a mission alone!
Observe the operating time, limitations and specific
national regulations. The maximum operating time may
also depend on the used respiratory protective device and
the operating conditions.
If no compressed air hoses are connected in protective
suits with ventilation units, close the ports with a protective
cap to avoid contamination.
If you are working with refrigerated media, use the relevant
overgloves (e. g.Cryo-Industrial Gloves from Tempshield,
Inc.) and underclothing.
If sight is obstructed by fogging or icing on the inside of the
visor: pull one hand out of the sleeve and wipe the visor,
e.g., with a cleaning cloth. The cleaning cloth can be stored
in the inside pocket.
Leave the contaminated area immediately in a case of
emergency. Open fastener system in clean area only.

4.5.1
Precleaning of the chemical protective suit
WARNING
!
Risk of contamination!
Never touch contaminated parts unless wearing
protective clothing. Avoid contaminating the clean
interior of the suit.
Failure to meet the required safety precautions may
result in death or serious injury.
1. Leave the contaminated area and have the chemical
protective suit precleaned by an assistant. The assistant
must also wear protective clothing and breathing apparatus
where necessary.
For precleaning, Dräger recommends using plenty of water
to which a detergent has been added. This will be sufficient
to wash away most chemicals (acids, alkalis, organic and
inorganic substances).
CAUTION
!
If precleaning is not possible on site, remove and close
the suit immediately to prevent chemicals from
entering the suit.
2. Clean the chemical protective suit thoroughly for a
sufficient time. Avoid spreading chemicals.
3. In the event of contamination with hazardous substances,
dispose of the waste water in line with the relevant waste
waster disposal regulations.
4. If necessary, carry out decontamination in several steps.
