2.12 Some of the components of the mask are small enough to be
swallowed by children and must never be left unattended. An
adult must always be present.
3 - COMPONENTS OF THE MASK (Fig. A)
a) mouth-and-nose cushion; b) main body; c) forehead support; d)
forehead rest e) adjusting knob; f) adjusting screw; g) cap; h) anti-
suffocation fitting; i) swivel fitting; l) headgear; m) clip.
4 - HOW TO PUT ON THE MASK (Fig. B)
The mask comes fully assembled ready for use. Proceed as follows
to put on the mask.
Turn the adjusting knob (e) until the forehead support (c) is fully
extended (Fig. 1).
Hold the mask firmly in one hand and extend the headgear (l) with
the other enough to pull it over your head (Fig. 2).
Place the mask gently on your face so that the cushion (a) fits snugly
round the mouth and nose, and position the headgear (l) on your
head (Fig. 3).
Clip the two clips (m) onto the main body (b) (Fig. 4).
Tighten the upper straps first, then the lower straps, until the mask
fits on your face comfortably, without over tightening (Fig. 5).
Connect the mask to a CPAP or a Bi-level appliance at the prescribed
pressure (Fig. 6)
After lying down, turn the adjusting knob (e) until the mask feels
comfortable but still provides a good seal (Fig. 7).
Readjust the lower straps if necessary to eliminate any leaks, but
make sure the mask is not too tight.
5 - HOW TO REMOVE THE MASK (Fig. C)
To remove the mask, press the button on the front (Fig. C) to
release one of the clips (m). Lift the headgear over your head and
remove the mask.
The other straps do not need to be loosened or disconnected.

6 - HOW TO DISASSEMBLE THE MASK
Before disassembling the mask, disconnect the patient circuit from the
CPAP or Bi-level appliance.
Make a note of the position of the adjusting knob (e) for reference
next time.
Unclip the two clips (m) from the main body (b).
Undo the four straps and detach the headgear (l) from the main body
(b) and the clips (m).
Pull the anti-suffocation fitting (h) off the main body (b).
Pull the swivel fitting (i) off the anti-suffocation fitting (h).
Remove the cushion (a) from the main body (b). Remove the cap (g)
from the main body (b).
Detach the forehead rest (d) from the forehead support (c).
7 - CLEANING AND DISINFECTING THE MASK
The mask must be cleaned and/or disinfected each time before use.
N.B. The headgear should be cleaned once a week.
CLEANING THE MASK
First wash your hands thoroughly.
Disassemble all the components (see 6 - HOW TO DISASSEMBLE
THE MASK) and wash carefully in water at about 30°C using mild soap.
Rinse thoroughly with water and leave in the air to dry.
The mask can be cleaned in a washing machine at 30°C (programme
for delicate fabrics) but must not be spin- or tumble-dried. The mask
can be washed in this way up to 20 times.
DISINFECTING THE MASK
The mask must be taken apart for disinfection (see 6 - HOW TO
DISASSEMBLE THE MASK). Immerse the components in a cold
solution of disinfectant (e.g. a solution containing up to 2% sodium
hypochlorite), following the manufacturer's instructions.
IMPORTANT.
Check that the disinfectant solution is compatible
with the materials of which the mask is made (see 12 - DISPOSAL
